Fellow Tasmanian photographer Steve Penton has recorded a fair bit of the history of this old public hall, so I'll provide a link to what he says on his page. It's fascinating:

The history is partly written on the building itself: Established 1899. Once the home of silent movies in Beaconsfield. I'm glad to say the building is now occupied with shops and has a fresh coat of paint. Signs of more life in the old girl yet.

The colour version of a previous mono shot I uploaded earlier in the month, a very cold morning down at penton bridge.

St. Nicholas Church aka Nicholforest is located at Warwicksland, Penton which is about 8 miles east of Longtown Cumbria and is the most northern parish church in England.

The earliest post medieval mention of a church at Nicholforest is 1663 when bishop Stearne granted a licence to William Blathwaite to educate young boys in reading and writing at the chapel, (Capella de Foresta).

It stands on its own surrounded by woodland, near to the gates of Kingfield House which is about half a mile from the village hall. It was built in 1866 to a design by Alexander Graham, London. It is Gothic in style and is a Grade II Listed Building. The church features a small recently restored small wooden bell turret topped with a spire which has a locally crafted red squirrel weather vein on the top.

Just been looking back through many hundreds of photos that I have taken on my travels around the county , cant believe how many are on my hard drive (279 GB) and how long it would take to check them all !

This taken a few year's back at Penton bridge on a quiet autumn's day, I managed to catch it as the trees where just turning nicely.

I am positioned on the Scotland side with England on left side.

The Queen may be enamoured to them, but I'm not so sure...

A wet winter gives rise to the subterranean stream that runs through the valley in the Pentons, and feeds the ponds and then the lakes in Andover, flowing above ground. It emerged a couple of days ago and already geese and the ducks have taken up residence, including on the flooded lane out of the village.

I liked the way the water was rushing around the soft rock's on the river Liddell with just a little bit of rock sticking out ,taken when I visited Penton bridge the other week.

Another trip up to Penton to see if the leaves are turning yet, they are getting there but a few more weeks yet me thinks.

Had a day off work today and after slowly shaking this manflu off, decided for a drive out to capture some snow pics and guess what , I got another picture of a bridge.

I did find plenty of snow at the higher reaches of cumbria aswell.

An Autumn view of the Road Bridge at Penton which either crosses you into England or Scotland..

I Chose this photo I done a few weeks back down at Penton for this weeks theme of "Diptych" ,which I had never heard of but I have used it in the past without knowing its name.

Didn't have a clue how to do it in photoshop so just went with picmonkey and was dead easy.

Had a little drive just over the border to Penton bridge this morning as we have had a little taste of winter.

The roads getting there were a little dodgy in places but as the bridge nestles in a valley not much snow was here to my disappointment. However since I made the effort I was still taking some photos anyway.

But It was bitterly cold so only stopped for about 20 mins and I was off home..
