Recently asked to do a photo shoot for Samantha Jayne at aspellforyou. Samantha is an authentic white witch who makes bespoke spells for people. The objects are lovingly crafted and beautifully put together, was very pleased with the results using The 25mm Leica lens. Take a look at her website and etsy and ebay links below.

Illustration in black ink showing pentagram seal - a five-pointed star with magical symbols. From Cyprianus, 18th century. Cyprianus is also known as the Black Book, and is the textbook of the Black School at Wittenburg, the book from which a witch or sorceror gets his spells. The Black School at Wittenburg was purportedly a place in Germany where one went to learn the black arts.

I'm cobbling together a Rube Goldberg apparatus in order to get greater magnification. It works pretty well, as the yellow portion of this drying weed flower is only 1/8" in diameter!! (3mm!)

Some of these photographs appear to be close-ups of regular-sized flowers; they are not. All of these photos are micro (macro) photographs of the super-tiny blooms that blossom on common weeds.

Weed flowers...wild flowers...whichever appellation you want to bestow on them nonetheless these almost microscopic beauties are the flowers that bloom on the weeds in my yard.

Most of these flowers when measured petal tip to petal tip at their widest diameters measure 1/4" (6mm) across…or less...the entire bloom is that small. But the smallest weed flower I've shot yet is a small ring of flowers that measured less than 1/32" (.7mm) in diameter which encircled a spire which measured about 1/64" (0.3mm) in diameter.

For some photos I’ve included references to common objects such as the head of a paper match. On some others I’ve listed a description of the actual size of each object in the photo.

So far I've made over 600 photographs of over 48 varieties of weed flowers; this set represents the best of the best.

Pentagram

This is the second time I've looked for a star to photograph, and again I didn't see any as I wandered around town. So...

Amongst my extensive collection of books on performance magic, I have two volumes dedicated to black magic. and as I suspected, it was easy to find a five-pointed star there.

The first 6 pentagrams model has icosahedral symmetry. Multiple people have discovered it independently, and it follows the same well known weaving pattern as many other models. This model of 6 pentagrams however, has octahedral edge symmetry. The pattern is comprised of 8 triangles and 24 squares, and the geometry somewhat warps each star a little bit from being flat. I believe this is a new weaving geometry that hasn't been used in previous models.

To fold this, I used Francesco Mancini's unit design for his 6P1 and just wove them the way I wanted instead. Anyone who wants to duplicate this can follow his unit diagrams and then try to weave it from my pictures.

One helpful hint for assembly is to note that most pairs of two stars are not independently linked (in 6P1, every pair is linked). Another hint is that the assembly has chiral symmetry. If these hints and photos end up not being enough, I can upload a weaving schematic later if requested.

I believe it is the last origin-centric, single-loop woven model with octahedral symmetry and identical frames (there are only 3, XYZ, WXYZ, and this). It is also the first of a series of woven designs based on a chiral octahedral geometry set based on using only triangles and squares. I can upload nets of other designs later.

This was a gift wedding cake for a goth-loving/living co-worker. Red Velvet cake w/ raspberry filling, buttercream icing (don't EVER try to tint that much buttercream black!!!!) Royal icing pentagram topper medallion, with his & hers chocolate truffle coffins. Fondant accents. "Sacrilicious" was the adjective the groom created to describe my work. Fitting, eh?

A shot taken from the lighting gantry in Hellingly's main hall showing the famous 'pentagram' pattern

The pentegram was created by someone pouring salt onto the floor several months before this shot was taken, The salt retains the damp in the wood and is visible when the rest of the floor has dryed out a little. It is said that it dissapears and re-emerges depending on wether it has rained the night before.

Warmington church stands proud on high ground overlooking the main road up the north-eastern fringe of Edgehill. The church is of mainly 13th to 14th century date and is built of the local ironstone which always adds such character with it's delightful golden-brown hue.

The colouring of the stonework is also most apparent within the nave and aisles, which are separated by solid Transitional style arcades (the pillars are Norman in character, while the arches they carry are pointed, though still partially Romanesque in spirit). There is some interesting tracery in the north aisle, particularly the pentagram design in the east window. The chancel betrays later detailing from the 14th century, most notably the fine sedilia with its cusped canopies. Frustratingly I missed the chance to see inside the two-storey extension on the north side on this visit, assuming it to be just another locked vestry, but externally it seems to be a more significant structure.

The windows of the church are largely plain-glazed, though there is stained glass of the Victorian period in the chancel and west window of the tower (none of it terribly exciting).

St Michael's church is normally kept open for visitors during the day, and is well worth a look.

This isnt painted its actually built into the design of the floor of this little place. it is located in presidio park near old town san diego. i was pretty excited to see this as I really wanted to go to this spot before I left. and even better i went at night unfortunatly it was pitch black i barely ever use flash in my photos for this one i had too. does'nt it look like blood in the middle of this pentagram. a sacrafice was made perhaps. im not really sure but to me that defiantly looks like blood stained concrete.

I will miss adventuring with my friend and the creator of hiddensandiego.net

check out her site lots of cool places to visit.
