Just one of the residents cycling along the promenade...

I was in a rush today for various reasons so only just had time to add this bit but the funny thing at the time of this shot was the gentleman before he mounted the cycle was talking to some people as a smallish crowd had gathered. He pronounced to everyone that he couldn’t bear to be part of this computerised world and totally embraced his life living as if from a bygone age. Saying he was more comfortable living that way……….and then……his smartphone rang and he answered with alacrity lol 😂

It’s with great pleasure that we confirm that the 2012 37th Scottish Transport Extravaganza will go ahead finally this year!! Get the dates in your diaries and keep your eyes peeled for entry forms and further information in the next few weeks! Saturday 7th and Sunday 18th July

A massive range of makes and models spanning over 100 years of motoring history will be on display at Glamis Castle this weekend.

A record number of entries were received by Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club (SVVC) for the Saturday and Sunday Scottish Transport Extravaganza, which is expected to attract a five-figure crowd.

The vehicles cover all forms of motoring from an 1881 Penny Farthing to a 520bhp Noble Works which was built by Lee Noble and previously owned by TV presenter James May of Top Gear fame.

A Series 1 Land Rover which once belonged to Castle Motors in Forfar – once the town’s biggest – will also be on display after being purchased and preserved by the club.

Visitors will come from across the world to attend the rally which takes in everything from bicycles and cars of every marque to military vehicles and articulated trucks.

Stephen Dear from SVVC said: “This year’s Extravaganza is the 43rd event to be held in the grounds of Glamis Castle and continues to be one of the premier vintage/classic vehicle rallies in Scotland and beyond.

“This year we have a record number of entrants over the weekend with approx 1,500 entries received.

“This year we also have 51 different car clubs covering all makes and interests displaying their vehicles.

“We have approximately 150 mixed traders selling a variety of wares and also a craft marquee.”

The ring entertainment this year will be the Joseph Peace Fire Stunt Spectacular – blending fire stunts with comedy in a fusion of modern circus and pantomime fun.

London to Brighton run though Merstham, Surrey.

Today's theme for The Macro Mondays group is currency.

The large One Penny coin is from The Commonwealth of Australia. Coins issued in 1927 were withdrawn at decimalisation in 1966 after 39 years in circulation, but have never been formally demonetised and are still legal tender!

A Farthing was worth quarter of a penny. It ceased to be legal tender on the 31st December 1960.

The Penny Farthing bicycle name came from the British Penny and Farthing coins. The Penny being being much larger than the Farthing.

Thanks for visiting.

Happy Macro Monday......

This lovely artwork graces the transom above the door of the Abandoned Relik Co., located in the former First National Bank building on Front Street in downtown Buchanan, Michigan. The penny-farthing or ordinary, the first machine to be called a bycycle, was popular in the 1870s and 1880s.

What's the time Mr Wolf?

I always hated my name at school, it always seemed like there was no limit to the number of hurtful variations around the theme that other children would come up with...Tupence, Threpence, Halfpenny, Money Penny, Penny Farthing...the list went on. And, if the teacher ever happened to mention my full name, I would be referred to as Lady Penelope or Penelope Pitstop for the rest of the day...shame I didn't have a country pile and the chauffeur to go with it! Happy LCoF! :-)

NO, Eliza, NO! Don't you even think about riding that Penny Farthing in the tree!

Did she or didn't she????

Thanks to Blanca for this wonderful sweater and skirt....from Cangaway! We love it!

I love the design, but not sure I could handle having one in our garden.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :)

Did you know the Penny-farthing bicycle gots its name because the wheels had the same size difference as there was between the British coins, penny and farthing?

A very quick sketch, combing two prompts.

Thank you for taking the time to visit, comment, fave or invite. I really appreciate them all.

Straight lines and curves.

The Penny Farthing just happened to be pasting .. I thought how appropriate when capturing this Federation house in the morning light . No gears here for going up the slight gradient , just more effort required as I heard from his breathing as he went by ...
