Snow showers this morning in Bethesda, Maryland, shot from the dining room window of our condo. Fortunately, as I post this, the sun is shining brightly. While I will miss the view of downtown Bethesda from our condo when we move to California, I will NOT miss cold and snow!

Peets? In Baker??
Still under construction but on the way. It's about 90 miles from the Las Vegas strip on I-15S.

On our road trip to San Antonio a week or so ago, I completely forgot to buy some Peet's Coffee to give to bro. My SIL came on Monday to visit with her family but will be flying back to SA this afternoon . . . . .so I went to Peet's this morning to buy bro 2 lbs. of his favorite blend . . . Major Dickinson. So bro . . . . here's the 2 lbs. that you will be getting this evening. Enjoy!
(Apparently they don't have Peet's Coffee in SA but they have several Starbuck's.)

Garuda blend and Sulawesi-Kalosi:
Rich volcanic soil and tropical climate combine with 300 years of tridition for some of the finest coffees in the world. Characterized by heavy body and rich, earthy tones.
GARUDA BLEND: Garuda is one of the oldest blends, formulated by Alfred Peet himself. It is a combination of coffees from the Indo-Pacific, with all the characteristic body and Nutty, Earthy flavors of the region.
SULAWESI-KALOSI: Age old production methods give this coffee a unique flavor, with rich full body, a multi-dimensional aromatic character and pleasantly sweet, woody notes.
Glad they are here as I ran out this morning. Oh yea, I am not sure I can pronounce them right.
As a recent contest winner I get two pounds of Peets coffee for 12 months. I just got the first months selections in their coffee tour. I was also able to add five friends to a list of recipients. That took a while. I had to be sure they liked coffee. Two of my flickr friends are on that list. Will you look at the size of the free tumbler. I'll have to find out how much it holds.
Berkeley's Own. This coffee and tea roaster/purveyor got his start in Berkeley in the 1960s. When I was young, I used to buy ground coffee in his first and only shop in the north of campus neighborhood. Now Peet's has become an international corporation. Peet's Coffee is sold in supermarkets all over America, and I don't know about abroad. They still have several shops in Berkeley that serve a satisfied clientele every day. On December 24, as a gift to the community, Peet's was dispensing free cups of coffee or tea to all comers. My friend and I stopped by.
Alfred Peet died in 2007. He certainly came along at the right time--when coffee was becoming a central element in so many people's lives--indeed Peet is responsible for much of that interest! (I drink only one cup in the morning!)
