1865 was when the first patients were treated here, and there was no doubt a steady stream of local residents who had got trapped in the looms of the nearby mills. Today much of it gone, replaced by housing where the different departments would have been. I wandered around in vain looking for some stitches after a particularly nasty trousers ripping. I hadn't wanted to go here as it always looked boring, but today the decay and damage scores highly on the peelypaint - o- meter.

The top floor was in the worst condition, but not really any water damage. It has a different layout from the other floors... hard to tell if the different layout is original or altered, but obviously extra walls have been put in.

Considering somebody lived up here relatively recently, I wonder how bad it was when it was somebody's home...

I love antiquity! How about you? It can't be replicated. It takes on character as it is worn with time.
