a Seu Vella o catedral antiga és un monument arquitectònic de la ciutat de Lleida. S'alça sobre un turó que porta el seu nom, des del qual s'albira tota la ciutat, el riu Segre i gran part de l'horta de Lleida. La Seu Vella forma part d'un conjunt monumental integrat també pel Castell del Rei o La Suda i la fortificació militar que els envolta. Tots tres elements estan catalogats com Bé Cultural d'Interès Nacional.[1][2][3] El conjunt monumental ha estat triat dos cops Monument Favorit de Catalunya.[4]
La catedral s'ubica al centre històric de la població, i es considera una obra romànica, per bé que presenta elements propis de l'arquitectura gòtica i alguns afegits renaixentistes. Destaca especialment el treball escultòric de les portes de l'Anunciata, del Portal Major i de la Porta dels Fillols, considerades per part de la historiografia com una mostra paradigmàtica de l'anomenada Escola de Lleida.[5] Encarregada a Pere de Coma el 1193,[6] la primera pedra del temple fou posada el 22 de juliol de 1203,[6] i es consagrà el 1278,[7] per bé que l'obra no es va donar per acabada fins a la construcció del cimbori i el cobriment de les naus, el 1286.[8] El conjunt també està dotat d'un claustre, situat atípicament als peus del temple, que es va començar a bastir al darrer terç del segle XIII i no es va acabar fins al segle següent.[9] Fou llavors que es finalitzà el conjunt, amb la construcció del campanar i la porta dels Apòstols.
La Seu Vella sovint s'ha definit com una catedral romànica de monumentalitat gòtica[10] arran de la persistència de les formes de l'art romànic fins al segle xiii, tot i que, davant les dificultats de categorització del conjunt, darrerament s'opta per definir-lo com un dels exemples més representatius d'una arquitectura catalana del segle xiii.[11]
El Turó de la Seu Vella i els seus elements patrimonials els gestiona un consorci entre la Generalitat de Catalunya i la Paeria de Lleida.
he site was previously occupied by a Palaeo-Christian and Visigothic cathedral, which later, after the Islamic conquest of Spain, was rebuilt in 832 to be used as a mosque. In 1149, after the city's conquest by the Christian Ramon Berenguer IV of Barcelona and Ermengol VI of Urgell (1149), the structure was reconsecrated as "Santa Maria Antiqua", and entrusted to canons regular.
In 1193, however, the cathedral chapter ordered the construction of a new edifice, following the contemporary Romanesque architectural canons, to master Pere de Coma. The first stone was laid in 1203 by King Peter II of Aragon and count Ermengol VII of Urgell. Construction continued throughout the reign of James I of Aragon. It was consecrated to the Virgin Mary on 31 October 1278. The cloisters not were completed until the 14th century. The bell tower was begun in 14th century and finished in 1431.[2] The portal Porta dels Apòstols begun in the 14th and completed in 15th century.[3]
In 1707, the city was conquered by the troops of Philip V: the king ordered the destruction of the cathedral because it has taken a prominent part in the city's defense. Nevertheless, the order was never executed, and the cathedral was converted into barracks. The building was declared a national monument in 1918, and restoration works were started in 1950.The cathedral is designed in a transitional style between Romanesque and Gothic. It lacks almost any influence of Islamic architecture. The floor plan is of a basilica in a Latin cross with a nave and two aisles. The tower is octagonal with a central space of five apses. The interior was decorated in painted murals and sculpture, much of which is still preserved, but much of which has been despoiled during the War of Spanish Succession.
The octagonal tower is 12.65 metres (41.5 ft) in diameter at its base, but 9.62 metres (31.6 ft) at the top. Its maximum height is 60.00 metres (196.85 ft) and it contains 238 steps. A bell named Mònica announces the quarter-hours and one Silvestra announces the hours. The bells are of the international Gothic style of the 15th century.

The cloister is unusually placed in front of the main entrance of the church, and is notable for both its rare opened gallery with views over the city and for its extraordinary size. In fact, this cloister has been regarded as one of the largest cloisters in Europe.[4] This cloister has 17 ornate Gothic windows, each of them different. The Bock (Luxembourgish: Bockfiels) is a promontory in the north-eastern corner of Luxembourg City's old historical district. Offering a natural fortification, its rocky cliffs tower above the River Alzette, which surrounds it on three sides. It was here that Count Siegfried built his Castle of Lucilinburhuc in 963, providing a basis for the development of the town that became Luxembourg. Over the centuries, the Bock and the surrounding defenses were reinforced, attacked, and rebuilt time and time again as the armies of the Burgundians, Habsburgs, Spaniards, Prussians, and French vied for victory over one of Europe's most strategic strongholds, the Fortress of Luxembourg. Warring did not stop until the Treaty of London was signed in 1867, calling for the demolition of the fortifications. Ruins of the old castle and the vast underground system of passages and galleries known as the casemates continue to be a major tourist attraction.

Built in 1716-17 as a charity school, Bluecoat Chambers in School Lane is the oldest surviving building in central Liverpool. Following the Liverpool Blue Coat School's move to another site in 1906, the building was rented from 1907 onwards by the Sandon Studios Society. La nichée avait pris place dans une ouverture sur la facade.
C'est à l'occasion d'une promenade que j'ai entendu les cris des jeunes qui réclamaient de la nourriture à leur mère.

El Martirio de San Mauricio y la Legión Tebana de El Greco fue encargado en 1580 por Felipe II para decorar la capilla consagrada a ese santo, dentro de la Basílica del Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial.
Se eligió este tema porque el citado Santo era el patrón de la Orden del Toisón de Oro, cuya cabeza era Felipe II y todavía hoy lo siguen siendo los reyes de España.
El Greco, tardó casi tres años en pintar esta soberbia obra en su taller de Toledo, entregándola personalmente a finales de 1582, lo que demuestra que el pintor quería conseguir el favor de Felipe II y la oportunidad de poder trabajar en la decoración de El Escorial. A su regreso de Portugal en 1583, el rey pudo ver la obra pero no resultó de su agrado, aunque su calidad artística le fue reconocida al tasarse en 800 ducados. A El Greco se le pedía claridad y decoro para la representación del martirio, pero él no sólo lo desplaza a segundo término, sino que lo hace con una serenidad inapropiada y sin verse la muerte de San Mauricio, colocando como motivo principal el momento en que el santo convence a sus compañeros para que permanezcan fieles a su fe en Cristo.
Además el pintor introduce en todos los grupos una serie de retratos de personajes con armaduras contemporáneas, con banderolas y ballestas, recurso bastante habitual de la pintura italiana y que El Greco había utilizado ya en algunos de sus cuadros, como en El Expolio, pero que, en realidad, resultan poco idóneos para el ornato de un lugar devocional como la Basílica. Independientemente de las identificaciones de esas personalidades, propuestas por Cloulas y Bury, y que suelen ser difícilmente demostrables, seguramente el Greco sólo buscaba la presencia de altos dignatarios cortesanos, con la intención de relacionar la resistencia de San Mauricio a hacer sacrificios a los dioses, con el papel del rey como defensor de la fe católica frente a la herejía protestante.
Con este cuadro, El Greco fracasó para siempre en sus intentos de conseguir el mecenazgo real de Felipe II, y su Martirio acabó relegado a una estancia secundaria del Monasterio, la Sala de Capas o Sacristía de Coro.
The Martyrdom of Saint Maurice and the Theban Legion by El Greco was commissioned in 1580 by Philip II to decorate the chapel consecrated to that saint, within the Basilica of the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

Como ayer fue mi aniversario de boda, y hoy es mi aniversario de noviazgo… aquí está la foto de una de mis parejas de kekos. Además, hay quien me pedía desde hace tiempo verlos juntos.
Ya pondré aquí más fotos de ellos, y mejores. Y prometo seguir contando su historia. Os adelanto que esta pareja no estuvo tan acaramelada al principio jeje Pero ya saltaban chispas, y ambos reconocen que el destino les ha unido.

auch als Eigennamen verwenden, und berufen sich dabei zum Beispiel auf Mont Blanc und Mount Everest, da bei jenen das fremde Wort für Berg ebenfalls unübersetzt bleibt. Die Silbe -san würde damit als Bestandteil des Namens aufgefasst.

El tercer día empezó torcido. Un SMS temprano avisaba de que el servicio de ferries se suspendía por el estado del mar; no me extrañó después del accidentado desembarco del día anterior en Positano. Así que toca improvisar: subir hasta la carretera y buscar un autobús. Rumbo a Amalfi en un autobús lanzado por esa estrecha carretera repleta de curvas, adelantamientos imposibles y precipicios. Para emociones fuertes no hace falta montarse en una atracción de feria. Eso sí, los paisajes por el camino, espectaculares.
Amalfi me recibió bajo el paraguas. Las nubes muy bajas cubrían las montañas y todo parecía un gris día de enero. Rápida ascensión al hotel a dejar la maleta —solo cuatro pisos sin ascensor, las escaleras van a ser otra constante del viaje— y a explorar. Me adentro en las callejas buscando algo que fotografiar. Amalfi se ve literalmente en blanco y negro y decido aceptarlo.
El Vicolo Masaniello se abre ante mí: geometría vertical, escaleras mojadas, una pareja al fondo descendiendo. La imagen que el día pedía.

The third day began badly. An early SMS announced that the ferry service was suspended due to the state of the sea; not surprising after yesterday's difficult disembarkation in Positano. So improvisation required: climb up to the road and find a bus. Bound for Amalfi in a bus hurtling along that narrow road full of curves, impossible overtaking and precipices. For strong emotions you don't need to get on a fairground ride. That said, the landscapes along the way, spectacular.
Amalfi received me beneath an umbrella. Very low clouds covered the mountains and everything seemed a grey January day. Swift ascent to the hotel to leave the suitcase—only four floors with no lift, stairs are going to be another constant of the trip—and to explore. I plunge into the alleyways seeking something to photograph. Amalfi literally appears in black and white and I decide to accept it.
Vicolo Masaniello opens before me: vertical geometry, wet stairs, a couple at the back descending. The image the day demanded.

The Changa Manga (Urdu, Punjabi: چھانگا مانگا) is a planted forest which includes a wildlife preserve, in the Kasur and Lahore districts of Punjab, Pakistan. It is located approximately 80 kilometers south-west of Lahore. It was once the largest man-made forest in the world but has undergone illegal deforestation at a massive scale in recent times. Changa Manga is known more widely as "one of the oldest hand-planted forests in the world", and hosts a wide variety of flora and fauna. The forest is home to 14 species of mammals, 50 species of birds, six species of reptiles, two species of amphibians and 27 species of insects. Thus, other than producing timber for the local industry, the forest also serves as an important wildlife reserve. Named after two brother dacoits, the Changa Manga forest was originally planted in 1866 by British foresters. Its trees were harvested to gather fuel and resources for the engines employed in the North-Western railway networks.
The name of the forest is derived from an amalgamation of the names of two brother dacoits (bandits), Changa and Manga. The dacoits were a constant source of terror for the "law-abiding citizens" of the districts in the 19th century as they would "hold up and plunder" any passing trader. The robbers had a den in the "secret heart" of the forest where they sought shelter from the British peacekeepers. The robbers were eventually captured by the police and became the inspiration for the name of the forest site. Soon afterwards, Salvation Army opened up a camp at the forest site as a place for reformation of criminals.

This building dates from about 1746 and it is steeped in a fascinating history that intertwines with literary legends and the maritime past of this historic city. Reeds op het eind van de jaren 1830 werd het gebied ten zuiden van Gent in oost-westrichting doorsneden door de spoorlijn Brussel-Oostende. Het eerste station in de stad werd het Station Gent-Zuid, een kopstation in het stadscentrum. Op de lijn Brussel-Oostende werd in de jaren 1889-1890 een kleine halte ingericht ten zuiden van de stad, het zogenaamde "Klein Sint-Pietersstation", een doorgangsstation enkele honderden meter oostwaarts van het latere Sint-Pietersstation, ter hoogte van het huidige Parkplein.
Station Gent-Sint-Pieters heeft een karakteristieke uurwerktoren die asymmetrisch ten opzichte van de hoofdingang is geplaatst. Net zoals de toren van het oude postkantoor aan de Korenmarkt, dat door dezelfde architect (Louis Cloquet) werd ontworpen.
Men had in 1975 ontdekt dat de toren scheef stond. In 1999 werd bij de renovatie van het stationsgebouw opgemerkt dat de toren nog schever stond. Pas in 2005 werd het duidelijk hoe dramatisch de staat van de toren was: hij helde dertig centimeter over onder andere omdat de metalen steun binnenin kromgegroeid en volledig verroest was. Uiteraard was de toren niet meer water- en vochtbestendig. Ook de oude baksteen was niet meer vocht- en vorstbestendig, daarom werd besloten om de toren steen voor steen af te breken en weer op te bouwen in gewapend beton met een buitenzijde van bakstenen gemetseld die zo veel mogelijk lijken op de oorspronkelijke stenen. De nieuwe toren (kopie van de oude) werd tijdens de zomer van 2006 opgebouwd.

Ahhhh, sí, lo sé... no estoy inspirado. Pero tengo mis razones: acabo de ver que mi botella de agua tiene un código numérico en relieve... eso no estaba ahí antes!! (en botellas anteriores, se entiende)
Además el cuerpo me pedía subir alguna foto, aunque fuese una tontada como ésta. Si en los próximos días continúo así, por favor, paciencia... no hace falta bloquearme o quitarme de la lista de contactos. Mejor esto que volver a poner fotos de trompos y canicas, no?? xD
