I've always wanted to make sangria. I invented my own.
Ingredients:
1 bottle of white wine
3 / 4 cup of peach vodka
1 cup orange peach mango juice
1 cup ginger ale
3 ripe peaches, cut up
1 valencia orange, cut up
(I also put a champagne mango in there, but the pieces of mango ended up tasting funny sitting in the wine so I'd recommend omitting it. Regular mango might be okay.)
So I was supposed to have a second date with Date #7 (hereinafter known as the surgeon) tonight but he sorta dropped the ball on following up. (He's VERY much a last minute person. I am definitely NOT.) When my friend Anna asked me if I wanted to join her in seeing Anthony Bourdain at the Harold Washington Library, I jumped at the chance. The event wasn't quite what I'd hoped (I didn't actually get to see Bourdain in person) but I still had a blast catching up and eating with Anna.
Of course, after I'd already set plans with Anna, the surgeon called to ask about going out tonight. I stuck to my original plan. (No sense in rearranging my life or putting it on hold for someone I barely know and for someone who isn't fond of giving notice.) It sounds like I might see the surgeon again. Just have no idea when.

Trying my have at making a white peach sangria today. And I'm delighted by the results. Especially since I was able to use it to recover a bottle of sauv blanc and 2 bottles of prosecco that would have otherwise have been dumped. (They were forgotten about in a tack box that was outside all winter ) I'm a big fan of sangria, and have a house recipe that turns heads. But I'm very happy with this white peach recipe I concocted. A couple of more runs, and it will be perfected. I might even share.
