We found this fellow sifting through the debris on the forest floor while walking towards Hardy Falls near Peachland BC. It is a female because of the mottled breast and muted colours.

Peachland Series 1 of 5

If you have a moment, please look at the series of pictures for more information about Okanagan Mountain Park Fire....

We were evacuated twice for a total of 2 1/2 weeks all together.

It was very scary to say the least and very surreal at the time.

Our house was about 1 1/2 km's as a crow flies from the fire. We were very lucky to have not lost anything.

The only damage was our hardwood flooring from the sprinklers being on the roof. Water was going down the chimney shaft and into our pantry/mudroom walls.

This was all covered by insurance.

Happy Ostara/Spring Equinox (March 20, 2008)

On the weekend i met Tania for dinner; we had a little stroll thru the Christmas market and we ventured into the cold to see the Peachland light up and to warm up by the bonfire...

Take a peek into the shop & see the beautiful Christmas tree.

Yup, that's me beside the Christmas tree....

Wishing you all a beautiful & delicious Sunday!

at the Gasthaus on the lake in Peachland.

Patty and I stopped here for lunch on the way to Penticton the other day.

They make the best homemade pizza's!

This is my favorite pizza on the menu.

Patty, had the roasted chicken and black bean pasta. We shared these dishes.

I can't wait to visit the restaurant again and experience these yummy flavors again =)

may water quench the thirst

Here we see a Male Brewer's Blackbird (Euphagus cyanocephalus), named after ornithologist Thomas Mayo Brewer, and distinguished by it's iridescent purple head (unlike the Rusty Blackbird to which it is closely related). Males are up to 10.3 inches in length with black legs and bright yellow eyes and a green and blue colour to the body feathers. It is classd as an American bird, and a New World Blackbird.

I took this photo after meeting up with

Tania in Peachland yesterday.

When I met up with Tania at the Bliss Bakery, I was a little distraught as I dropped my Nikon on the ground getting out of the 4Runner. It was in the camera case and I thought I had the strap around my arm, but it was my purse strap instead. Oh my, I thought, please don't let anything happen to my camera =(

Well, when I sat down and opened my case, the lens cap moved ever so slightly and went into the groove of the lens filter.

I couldn''t get it off for the life of me and then Tania showed up and she tried to get it off.

Not luck!

So, I thought I was doomed!

Tania and I were meeting up for a nice hot drink of some sort and to take photos on the beach. It was a beautiful and sunny afternoon.

Anyways, I couldn't take any photos because my lens caps was stuck on my camera. Well, guess what? Tania comes equipped like I said before, and let me use one of her lens. I actually fell in love with it!

Tania was taking a photo of me when I was taking a photo of this.

Thank you so much Tania for the use of your lens. All my photos turned out beautifully...

So, I thought this photo was perfect for my day.

Cuz, I would have been up the lake without a paddle, without my lens...LOL...

When I got home, I unpacked my bags and stuff and then told Jim.

He looked at it and was able to get the cap off with a little prying.

There were no scratches or damage involved....

Thank you hun xo

Happy Blue Monday everyone!

It's great to be back....

at Antlers Beach on Friday afternoon...

I posted a photo yesterday and wrote some words to go with it.

I was referring to this shot right here.

On Friday afternoon, I was heading to my grandparents for the weekend and it became extremely windy, as this part of the Okanagan usually does. Anyways, just as I was driving past, I noticed this wharf as I normally do, but this time....the waves were incredible, splashing with extreme forces and hanging off the wharf was a cluster of huge icicles on both sides...

Absolutley amazing!

For that split moment, I wanted to stop and take some photos, however there were too many vechiles behind me to stop. At this corner it can be very dangerous and you have to give a lot of notice before turning off to the beach.

I could have turned around, although I was running a bit late and had to go quite a ways to turn around.

So, I missed that special moment and can never get it back.

What I missed was just a simple photograph in my mind..... was beautiful art to me.

Remember if you see something special, always stop and capture it then.

So, when I came back from Penticton on Sunday, I decided to stop and try to capture some photos, although I think they are nice, but not the same.

I had to post a series of them.

Dedicated to As seen through Tania's eyes'

If you look close, you can see the icicles have melted away to a smaller cluster.

shared between Tania & i this afternoon.

We had a wonderful lunch and catch up....of course we talked all about flickr....really.....honestly....

I can't believe we don't do this more often....

We were planning to do Pincushion yesterday but the weather wasn’t really cooperating and then I got called into work. But today after I woke up from my post nightshift nap I saw the sun streaming in through the windows and knew it was going to be beautiful up there. I started charging and packing my gear and waited for my girls to return home. Kids didn’t feel like leaving the house again so they encouraged us to go without them. Wow, I don’t remember the last time we got 5hrs to ourselves. The hike was a bit sketchy with all the snow and ice but we had the entire mountain to ourselves.

Peachland Series 5 of 5

This is the area where the Okanagan Mountain Park Fire started by a lighting strike back in 2003.

If you have a moment, please look at the series of pictures....

This was all covered by insurance.

I wanted to capture a shot of the marina and never for a moment figured I would not be able to get a clear shot. However, it's not 1980 anymore sir and we need to build big fences around our boats for protection. I understand but what a bummer as the sky was awesome.

I traveled on down the road another mile or so and found another interesting location to capture a few night shots.

Camera raw I was happy with the shot but figured I would play a little. If you are interested in seeing the camera raw file use this link: scahancock.smugmug.com/Landscapes/SCAHancock-pix-1/194234...

If you like this image, please share it with a post, and help me bring my pictures to a wider audience. Thank you.
