Filmed whilst calling at a bus stop somewhere in London's West End - possibly the Oxford Street end of Tottenham Court Road
A burning hot afternoon on 16th June 1985, and crowds of people have descended onto Blackpool's promenade to enjoy the Summer sun and sea air.
Blackpool No1 was one of thirteen Railcoach cars (1-13) that were rebuilt into modern One-Man-Operation (OMO) cars between 1972 and 1976, No1 being constructed from Railcoach 616 in 1972.
For most of their service lives with Blackpool, these trams carried a red and cream livery, denoting that they were Pay-on-entry cars, however, some of them, including No1 did receive this green and cream fleet livery towards the end of their lives.
All thirteen cars were withdrawn some years ago, but cars 5 and 8 survive in preservation, while OMO car No7 was rebuilt as 619, a 'Vanguard' replica tram car.

The origins of this bus route can be traced back to the electrification of the tramways in the 1920s. Electric tram route 4 between Piershill and Slateford was certainly in operation by 1924 but with the tram replacement programme underway in the early 1950s, tram service 4 was withdrawn on 2nd May 1953. It was replaced by a new double deck bus service 4 the following day, the route being extended from Northfield Broadway to Bingham Road in the east and at the other end from Slateford to Oxgangs Terrace via Craiglockhart Avenue. D.L.G. Hunter notes that the southern end of the route was extended from Oxgangs to Fairmilehead in March 1954. In the summer of 1954, the route was being extended to Hillend Park ( which had been donated to the city in 1924) on Saturdays and Sundays. The 1973 timetable indicates that all services were extended to Hillend everyday from April to September between 2pm and 9 pm. The date of the timetable illustrated was that when one man operation was introduced on this service. ECT became the Lothian Region Transport on 16 May 1975 ( Lothian Buses from January 2000). Timetabled running time Bingham to Fairmilehead was 53 mins in 1973 with weekday daytime frequency every 15 minutes (frequency the same in 2017.) At some stage, the Hillend extension became permanent all year and in the east, the route today has been extended from Bingham to The Jewel, making the total route length just over 11 miles.
