At the peak of the hill in Puttaparthi is the 65 feet high statue of Lord Hanuman was built to commemorate Sri Satya Sai's 65th birthday.
ARJUN (3rd of the Pandava brothers) had gone to the Himalayas in quest of divine weapons from his father Devraaj Indra. In case of war he would have to face invincible warriors like Pitamah Bhishma, Dronacharya, Kripacharya, Duryodhan, Karna, Aswatthama and many others. For this it was necessary to acquire more power. The other four Pandavas and Drupad Kanya found life devoid of joy in his absence. Desiring a change of scene, they now moved on in search of a more peaceful place. At last they came to the Narayanasrama forest. They decided to take rest and stay there for a while.
One day, a breeze blew from the north-east and wafted a beautiful flower near DRAUPADI. The beauty and sweet scent of the flower charmed Panchali. She felt a deep desire to possess that flower known as SAUGANDHIKA and requested BHEEM (second of the Pandavas) to get her that flower. She was very insistent. Bheem was only too pleased to satisfy her least desire. He forthwith set out in the direction from which the fragrance was coming from.
The way through the forest was far from easy. Before long at the foot of a mountain he saw a huge old ape man (monkey) resting on his path, blocking his way. He asked the old monkey to get up and clear the way for him.
The monkey was in no mood to oblige. Ape man said, “I am too old and weak to move. You can jump over me.”
Proud Gadadhar, incensed by this insolence, again asked the monkey to move. Bheem told, “You old monkey, you don’t know whom you are talking to. I am a Kshatriya from the Kuru race. I am the son of Kunti and the wind god Vayu. I am Bheem, brother of famous Hanuman. So, if you offend me any further, you will incur my wrath. I command you to better get up and move aside without wasting my time.”
The monkey retorted, “If you are in such hurry, you can move my tail aside and go ahead.” Bheem’s threats did not have any effect on the monkey. Instead, Ape man queried to Bheem, “Who is Hanuman. Tell me what is so great about him. What did he do?”
Bheemasen responded to him, “How can you be so silly and ignorant? Have you not heard of the mighty Hanuman who jumped over to Lanka, across the 100 Yojan wide (400 Kos) sea, to seek and find Devi Sita, Bhagwan Shri Ram’s wife? Indeed you are ignorant.”
The monkey only smiled. Finding no other way, Bheem tried to pull the monkey’s tail aside but he could not move it even a little bit (Here Lord Hanuman uses his GARIMA Siddhi). Bheem put all his might in the endeavor, but to no avail, he was all perspiration. In spite of his best efforts he could not move the tail. As such the question of challenging this monkey for a show of strength did not arise. Bheem felt very humiliated and subdued. He told the monkey, “You are not ordinary monkey. Please tell me who you are. I accept defeat and bow to you.”
LORD HANUMAN appeared in his true original form and said, “Bheem, I am that Hanuman whose name you mentioned a little while ago. I am your brother. Your path ahead is perilous. It is the path of the Devatas and is not safe for men. So I came to caution you. I knew you have come to collect the Saugandhika flower. I shall show you the pond, where this flower grows. You can collect as many as you want and go back.”
Bheemasen was happy. He bowed to God Hanuman and requested him to show his huge form in which he jumped over the 100 Yojan breadth (400 Kos) ocean, to land on Lanka. Bajrang Bali increased his size till he seemed to occupy the whole landscape, like a hill (Here Lord Hanuman uses his MAHIMA Siddhi). His form was dazzlingly white; so Bheem had to cover his eyes.
Resuming his normal form, Chiranjeevi Hanuman embraced Bheem and blessed him. He also assured him, “When you roar like a lion on the battle field, my voice shall join yours and strike terror in the hearts of your enemies. I will be there on the flag of the chariot of Parth. You will be victorious.” With Lord Hanuman’s embrace Bheem’s strength had also increased.
Kapiraaj Hanuman wanted to free his brother Bheem from his ego and to give him greater strength to fight his enemies. Pawanputra Hanuman then took leave of his brother after blessing him.
Following Lord Hanuman’s advice, Bheem collected many Saugandhika flowers from the pond and went back to present them to Yajnaseni, anxiously waiting for his return.
Hanuman disclosed two ways that led to Sugreev’s abode. One of the ways was very long but easy while the other was very short but very difficult.
Hanuman said to Lord Shri Ram & Lakshman, “Come with me, short way up is very difficult but you both sit on my shoulders, I’ll carry you flying through the air. (Pawanputra Hanuman travels in sky with the help LAGHIMA Siddhi. He can travel thousands of miles in a minute).”
Lakshman questioned to Hanumanji, “But how can you carry us both!”
Hanuman retorted “Don’t feel shy or amazed, dear Lakshman. To assume any form I want and to grow (MAHIMA siddhi) & shrink (ANIMA siddhi) in size is known to me. I have a boon that enables me to change myself to whatever form I like.”
“To traverse this impregnable mountain path, Come with your true eternal servant, O Lord. Pray, be seated on your devotee’s humble shoulders, And thus exalt your devotee’s honour, O Lord.”
“Where in the world is a devotee as this…or a Lord so merciful, Seating two great warriors on his shoulders, went forth valiant Hanuman.”
Hanuman seated Bhagwan Shri Ram & Sheshavatar Lakshman on his shoulders and began to fly towards Rishyamook Parvat.
On the way he showed them plants laden with flowers, rapidly flowing waters of brooks, caves, chief mountain peaks and charming valleys. Also, he showed them lakes filled with garlic-colored waters with half-bloomed buds in them. Cranes, swans, water-fowls and several other water-birds were frolicking in water. Soft grass-eating wild deer were either grazing soft blades of grass or were resting after having had their fill.
Here and there were seen Vanara warriors with gigantic muscular bodies. One of them was Angad, the son of Kishkindha King Vali. He was gazing at the movements of Hanuman with a keen sight.
There are seven Chiranjeevis as mentioned in Hinduism; Chiranjeevis are those who are believed to be still alive throughout this Kali Yuga. Chiranjeevi is a Sanskrit word which is a combination of two words “Chiram” which means “long” and “Jeevi” means “lived” beings that will live a very long life, so long that normal humans feel that they live for eternity; they started off as humans, but have received the boon/curse of eternal life; mortals can become Chiranjeevi by good deeds etc. When Shri Rama left this world to go back to Vaikuntha, He asked Hanuman to remain in this world and continue to chant the Ram-Nama so that the world could be benefited by it and that is what Chiranjeevi Lord Hanuman Dada continues to do to this day! The Sapta Chiranjeevis mentioned in Hindu Puranas are :- (1) Ram Doot-Ram Bhakth-Pawanputra Hanuman (2) Vibhishana-Bibhishana (3) Parashurama (4) Mahabali-King Bali (5) Kripacharya (6) Veda Vyasa-Krishna Dwaipayana Vyasa (7) Ashwatthama
The project began on 13th May, 1994 and in thirteen years came into existence the world’s unique statue of Hanumanji.
108 feet height sky-high titanic marvelous sculpture of Lord Mahabali Hanuman is located at Jakhu (or Jakhoo) temple at the well known hill station and state capital city SHIMLA in the Indian state of HIMACHAL PRADESH. The statue is visible from as far as 7 kms radius of the temple.
Jakhoo temple, situated at top of the famous Jakhu hill of Simla, is dedicated to Hindu deity Hanuman. It is hardly 2 kms east from the Ridge and is an uphill climb through the beautiful deodar trees. Jakhu temple is located at an amazing height of 2455 meters (8000 feet) above the sea level and is situated on the highest peak in Shimla that offers a panoramic view of the Shivalik Ranges and the town of Sanjauli. You can go to the temple on foot (a steep climb) from Ridge (path behind the church) or can hire a pony/horse. Taxis are available too. The scenic view that surrounds this beautiful temple is absolutely breath taking and splendid.
The jakhoo temple has an interesting legend goes that during Ramayan period, Ram-Ravan war in Lanka, Lakshman was seriously wounded by Veer Ghatini Amogh Shakti used by Ravan’s son Meghnad (Indrajeet) and as per told by Ravan’s kingdom Lanka’s Raj Vaidhya (Royal Doctor) Sushen a particular Sanjeevani Buti is available only on Dronachal Parvat in the Himalayas that could cure & alive Lakshman but should come before the day-break. Pawanputra Hanuman was sent to get that herb from the lofty mountains. Upon reaching at Himalayas, Mahabali Hanuman couldn't make out as to which booti was the Sanjeevani so he dug up & lifted the entire Dronachal mountain and flew back to where Lakshman was lying injured.
After Lakshman was cured, as per requested by Sushen Vaidhya, Mahaveer Hanuman went back to place the Dronachal Giri in its original site. He rested on top of the Jakhu hill for some time. It is said that the top of the hill got flattened due to Balwan Hanuman's weight ! The temple has been built around the place that is supposed to have the footprints of Veer Hanuman. It is a highly revered religious place of Shimla and devotees throng in huge numbers to pray Lord Hanuman. The shrine is a hotspot for monkeys who flock here in great numbers and generously accept eatables that are given to them by devotees and tourists.

In India’s Great Epic Ramayan, when time come to cross 100 Yojan’s (or 400 Kos) immeasurable limitless ocean, no one from any apes was able to do so at that time Jambavan, the king of bears, having been reminded quiescent divine powers and limitless strength of Anjaneyar (Anjaniputra) Hanuman that he is the Manasputra of Wind God Vaayu (Pawansut) and eleventh avatar of Rudra (Shankarsuvan), finally remembering his forgotten immeasurable strong powers, Veer (Kesarinandan) Hanuman comes in Virat Roop (Giant form) and tells that I will jump this sea in a leap only. Then Pawanputra Hanuman leapt from India to Sri Lanka in search of Mata Sita.
72 feet height giant statue of Ramdoot Hanuman with Ram and Lakshman on either shoulder is situated at Bajrang Bag Veer Hanuman Temple; Pali city comes under Pali district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The temple is situated near Naya Gaon Railway Fatak on National Highway No-14.
Relative size of statue can be estimated from the size of foot image shown as when person actually take blessings by touching at the feet of Lord Hanuman.
The statue is depicted as Ramayan story, when Sugreev receive message from Neel that two strange men roaming in the wood surrounding Pampa Sarovar and advancing towards Rishyamook Parvat.
Finally Sugreev take decision and sent Hanuman to find the truth of this mystery. Hanuman takes the suitable form of Brahmin or Pandit (with the help of PRAKAMYA Siddhi) and meets those two men. When Bhagwan Shri Ram and his eternal servant Hanuman know each other then after all Hanuman disclosed two ways that led to Sugreev’s abode. One of the ways was very long but easy while the other was very short but very difficult.
Hanuman said to Lord Shri Ram and Lakshman, “Come with me, short way up is very difficult but you both sit on my shoulders, I’ll carry you flying through the air.

Historical Hanuman temple is situated on Jakhu Hill in Shimla. Legend is that during Ram-Ravan war in Lanka, Lakshman was seriously wounded by Amogh Shakti thrown by Meghnad (Ravan’s son) and Pawanputra Hanuman was sent to bring Sanjeevani Booti from Himalay. During his sky journey, he saw one Rishi named Yaksh in mediation posture on Jakhu Hill.

To know the details of Sanjeevani Booti, Pawansut Hanuman came down from sky. When Balwan Bajrang Bali placed his foot on hill, it had gone half in earth. After knowing details of Sanjeevani Booti, Veer Hanuman went on the way to Dronachal Parvat.
On the very spot where Hanumanji first placed his feet on hill, that footprint is created by Sangemarmar (marble) and kept safely in one hut on temple backside.
Lord Hanuman told to come back with Sanjeevani Booti to meet Yaksh Rishi but during journey he fought with Kalanemi (Ravan’s Uncle) and finally killed and flew for Sanjeevani Booti to Himalay.
On return journey he flied through short way over Ayodhya and didn’t come on Jakhu Hill.
Here Yaksh Rishi felt some disquieted because Hanumanji not came. So at that time Lord Hanuman appeared in front of him and told reason to not come during his return journey. After vanished of Lord Hanuman one murti swayambhu appeared that is present in today’s temple. In memory of Lord Hanuman arrival on Hill, Rishi Yaksh constructed one temple that is today’s famous Jakhu (or Jakhoo) Temple.
