Seen in the Arid House at Birmingham Botanical Gardens, native to East Africa.

Have always loved collecting ammonite shell. Fibonacci spirals in these shells are beautiful.

Is it an elephant or is it a moth? hint: I found it in my gardenia bush:)

I wish you a happy Macro Monday and a great week.

A selection of my favourite intimate landscape images focusing on patterns in nature. All the images here were taken along a small stretch of the North East coastline between Seaton Sluice and Whitley Bay.

I love shooting the coast, it’s such a dynamic place to work, with the ebb and flow of the tides constantly shifting the sand, leaving intricate traces of the forces of Mother Nature on the landscape

Sword ferns with a beautiful coating of hoar frost near Gordon Bay, Vancouver Island, British Columbia

Leaf from one of my green bean plants. It has shriveled up and is less than 2". The plants are winding down after a prodigious crop of green beans.

Underside of a fern

I came across a new kind of mushroom today. They’re called Luxury Caps.

I love the mourning doves. They are gentle little souls, never aggressive at the feeders. They mate for life, so I usually see them in pairs. This one's mate was sitting on a nearby branch.

The unfurling of a Leucospermum pin cushion flower.

A native to South Africa and Zimbabwe. Leucospermum cordifolium is an upright, evergreen shrub in the family Protaceae.

There are unique, globe-shaped pincushion-type flowers produced. This one seen here is a relatively new flower and not yet fully matured.

Growing 1 to 1.5 m in height. Flowers around 15 cm diameter.

These plants like well-drained, nutrient-poor, sandy, acidic soil and full sun.
