This is my second pattern that I deconstructed. It is from the Print & Pattern Book 1 from Beth Gunell.
When I started to count the amount of colours, the different motifs and the small details, I discovered the intricity of the design and how it did work. In this design the amount of different colours is just amazing, though the pattern itself seems to be 'pink' at first sight.
I really loved doing this exercise. It opened my eyes and gave me good ideas of how I could expand the possibility of my own motifs.
This exercise might also be a good warmup if you get stuck somewhere in designing patterns. Not to copy these designs, but really seeing how another designer made a pattern work.
We’ve put together some looks using prints inspired by Mexican, Native American, and other Indigenous textiles. These prints are bold, colorful, and just what you need to spice up your look! Another great thing about them is that they are timeless, from our vintage department to our contemporary department, you can see these prints on all kinds of clothing and accessories, whether it’s the trim on a vintage skirt, or woven patches on an 80’s fanny pack!

Pattern and Repetition Color
I picked this photo for the element of Pattern because I feel like the bright red of the first flower really shows every single bulb on the plant. It also has the element of repetition with the other flowers in the background. The only thing I did to this photo was crop the edges so the first flower was my main focus and enhanced the coloring so the red stood out a little more.
I thought it was about time a played about with making pattern. This one is from a series of quick doodlings of ladies in their lingerie

These two arrived a few days ago - Shetland is by Marie Wallin and I want to knit everything in this book and the Antartex one is from the 70s and has designs by Patricia Roberts in it.
She's so cute! She was intended to be a novelty pillow for a bed or couch. She's big--23 inches long, 12 inches tall. The puppies are about 5 inches tall. www.djonesgirlz.etsy.com
