Pattern for Mass Appeal #50.

Art Direction, Justin Kay.

My grandparents' hobby later in life was to collect rocks. This is one of the cooler patterns they found in their travels. I love the look of the hills.

No idea what happened to my descriptions for the last four photos I uploaded. They were there and then later, they had disappeared! Anyway, I loved the colouring and patterns on this fallen log, seen in the owl grove while I was waiting (in vain) for the two Great Horned Owlets to "do something".

Acrylic on canvas. 20 by 20 cm.

Finished Pattern (#12). 2010. Colored pencil. 11 x14.

This was originally inspired by a piece called Stars and Stars (davidlamorte.com/?p=254) that I submitted for Artists Space‘s Night of 1,000 Drawings (www.artistsspace.org/) in 2008. I wanted to try to mess around and deconstruct the pattern a bit. I find this pattern really interesting because it is a mixture of Middle East themes particularly the art and cultures of Israel and Islam.

This is the eleventh in a series of drawing experiments I have been working on. For more work go to davidlamorte.com.

I always find the snow leaves beautiful patterns, on the ground, in the trees and shrubs.

One of my favourite buildings in rotterdam so far, even though it was a very short stay. The detail and texture of the building is really amazing. Just makes me to feel it.

I will be back to explore rotterdam properly soon.

I came along,

I wrote a song for you,

And all the things you do,

And it was called "Yellow".

So then I took my turn,

Oh what a thing to have done,

And it was all "Yellow."

A lovely centralised pavement in this fine church by Fischer von Erlach. It reminded me of the Michelangelo pavement on the Capitoline; Fischer probably had seen it as I understand he was trained in Italy for some years. An art exhibition in the church enabled me to visit the galleries on the first floor - and take some unusual shots from there. I also met one of the artists, who proved to be a thoughtful and interesting guy.
