Drafting the pattern for a custom skirt I'm making. Yeah I got a little scissor happy.

First attempt at properly making a fitted pattern before cutting anything out. And it was a relative success!

Step one: Design your cuff. Write and/or draw out your ideas

Ask yourself some questions like:

How big is it going to be?

Do I want a pocket? If so what will it hold? How will it stay in the pocket?

How will I keep it on my arm?

What colors? What color stitching?

These answers are not concrete you can change as you go and sometimes you have too.

Step two: Measure your arm.

One measure at the starting point like wrist for my pattern

How tall

And around your end point.

Measure what you want to go in you pocket

Add any overlap and ease.

Step three: pattern Making

Take your measurements and draw out your pattern

Here I've folded the extra bits out of the way. I'm not going for the exact line here, just close enough.

I am so annoyed that I couldn't figure this out with my regular plotting methods.

Another day, another distortion . . . give us enough shiny surfaces we'll reinvent the world in its own image . . . but slightly skewed . . .

A craft apron I made to match my crochet hook case. Came out better than the case did!! I can use it when I'm sewing or patternmaking. I plan on some more Disney cosplay eventually, so here's to having a matching apron!!

06.09.2016: I decided to work on pattern making tonight so I can start on dress making this weekend. (Also, I'm waiting to a book to come out thus making me be productive. ^_^;)

Pastor own's and works the cutting room that Lara uses, and we use his space to work on markers and things like that. Needles to say that means I spend many hours a week there, which I secretly love because everyone who works there is so nice and they watch soccer on the spanish tv channels. Plus Pastor has two amazing dogs that hang out (ususally right under your feet) in the factory. This is one of them.
