PADDINGTON: "Here I am Daddy!"
DADDY: "Oh! There you are!"
PADDINGTON: "Oh! Daddy!" *Raises hat.* "How do you do!"
DADDY: "Paddington darling, what are you doing?"
PADDINGTON: "Well, I should have thought that would have been obvious to an intelligent person like you."
DADDY: "Enlighten me anyway, Paddington darling."
PADDINGTON: "Well I was sitting here, contemplating the world, when all of a sudden I found I couldn't concentrate on the world any more. I had an attack of the grumbly tummies, and I could only contemplate that. And the more I contemplated my grumbly tummy, the more grumbly it became."
DADDY: "Oh I see, Paddington darling. That's a very serious concern."
PADDINGTON: "Indeed it was, Daddy! So I decided I had better to something about it, and quickly at that."
DADDY: "So you decided to do something about it with what is... or rather, was... one of my precious jars of homemade cumquat marmalade?"
PADDINGTON: "Daddy! I do have a very grumbly tummy!" *Rubs tummy vigorously.* "Besides, there is one spare for me, just in case one is not enough to satisfy my grumbly tummy."
DADDY: "Oh!"
PADDINGTON: "Which I suspect will be the case, Daddy!" *Licks lips with cute little bear tongue before smiling lovingly at Daddy.*
DADDY: "Oh! Well, I suppose when you have an attack of the grumbly tummies, a little bear must do what a little bear must do." *Sighs wistfully looking at emptying jars.*
PADDINGTON: "Exactly Daddy!" *Sighs contentedly.* "I'm so glad you understand me!"

A thousand yellow dots pulse and breathe behind her — Yayoi Kusama's obsessive universe expanding in every direction, indifferent to scale, indifferent to the viewer, yet utterly consuming her. The woman in black becomes a shadow, a comma in the middle of a sentence that never ends.
This is what it feels like to stand before Kusama's work: you think you're observing it, and then — quietly, without asking — it observes you back. The dots don't care that you're wearing grey jeans and carrying a nice bag. The dots simply are. Infinite, relentless, gloriously yellow.
Monochrome meets chromatic madness. The human figure, stripped of color, becomes almost incidental — a scale reference in a world where scale no longer matters.
She came to see the art. The art made her part of itself.
