The cane itself (upper right corner) was rather challenging to make, but making designs from the slices was a lot of fun.
You can recognize their origin by looking at the pattern. If you concentrate on it a while, it gets more and more interesting.

Found this old pattern when sorting my sewing stuff. It is dated 1944 so it was probably one of Mom's early patterns or Grandma's.
I liked this pattern very much together with the reflections that kind of go against the direction of the leaf.
