Primitive Obsession 7<1997>

Jin Takeda

I just love this little swing coat and she is carrying a puppy!

This is a free pattern that can be found here: needleknowledge.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/ReQuakerSa...

I used DMC gray #414 and DMC mauve #3688--3 skeins of each color. I made a few changes. Below the alphabet and "flower" are two different patterns to replace the long one in the original. Instead of putting the year in the bottom middle around the "wreath," I put "wrought by Karen W. Gronau 2016."

I had a bloodstain pattern analysis lab session today and was able to bring home one of the tests we did. What you're looking at is drops of horse blood on a rough surface (in this case sandpaper) dropped from the height of a metre. The point of this was to demonstrate how the shape and size of blood drops changes depending on the characteristics of the surface they land on.

There were some nice patterns to be spotted in the sand at Dinas Dinlle a couple of nights ago. A little harder to photograph than expected but I was pleased with this one :)

I got my pattern finished and published! I hope you will check it out.

**FREE PATTERN** Available on Ravelry.com: Dresses for Calico Critters and Syvanian Mothers. This is a set of dresses with the same basic bodice and skirt. Variations include color choices, surface slip stitch embellishments and a bib. The dresses are crocheted in one piece with no seams. They are crocheted from bottom up for the bodice. The skirt is then attached to the bodice and crocheted from the waist down. These dresses were designed to fit the mothers from the Calico Critter or Sylvanian families. They may fit other small dolls as well. The dresses are made with #10 crochet cotton and a 2.25mm hook.

Here's the paisley again. I've colorized it (roughly) in Photoshop. Trying to get a feel for what works for it. I'd love to work this into a repeat.

The patterns in the ice formed on large lakes are often interesting and show various stages of formation. Here the ice at the top and bottom of the photo consists of innumerable small crystals that froze together into a solid mass. The larger crystals formed in cracks or fissures in the sheets of the fine-grained ice.

After moths ate my old, knitted, hot water bottle cover.

it's been so long since we've seen any color aside from grey here in poor Michigan. So I set aside some playtime for myself and doodled these sunflowers :)

Design derived from vintage Japanese patterns.

Three pages from the book Classical Ornaments of Japan. Tangles from hundreds of years ago :)

On the left is a pattern I'm sure I've seen already as a tangle. It's the same principle as in Trimonds, but arranged as a star. Love the stylisation of fir trees on the right (top bit). The bit on the right side below is very much like the tangle Bales (on green background).

Press "L". Patterns of rice field paddies in infrared. Note the road going trhough.

Efke Aura - the best IR film ever made IMHO. It's utterly pity that the Efke is no more...

How often do you break out your patterned papers? I love all the pretty designs, but sometimes I get stuck in a rut creating backgrounds in a set way. Well today I'm breaking out the Pink Fresh Studio papers for a backdrop for this cute @neatandtangled scene 😃🎨
