Patrolling...

Male lions are responsible for ensuring their territory remains their own. They go to great lengths to mark their parcel of land.

A common hawk in the eastern United States, the red-shouldered hawk exists all over Florida.

Not to be confused with the larger red-tailed hawk, the red-shouldered can be identified by its black and white banded tail and wings and by its call – a whistling sound which is imitated by blue jays. Adult hawks have a brownish red chest, but many Florida residents have paler head and chest colors.

Hunting from perches over water or in the woods, these hawks prey on mice, frogs and snakes and use the same nest years after year, if available. Females produce 2-4 pale bluish eggs and babies leave the nest after about six weeks. Interestingly, crows will mob attack this bird to drive it away, and the Great-horned owl will sometimes eat baby hawks from nests.

Red-shouldered hawks have adapted to human’s development and may be seen in wooded areas even in the city.

I captured this one in my backyard as it was trying to catch the resident rat that lives there.

It had tried before, but missed. The hawk shows up just about everyday day looking for the rat.

It ignores the squirrels and other birds and they ignore the it. I don't know how long it will ignore those big fat squirrels.

This was so out of my comfort zone, I mean the green screen experience was fun, ti think I matched the lighting but trying to get the image texture to match was a disaster. Enjoy :)

Just for me to remember.

I

*green screened an image of me in FireStorm

*used LumiPro to get the blue on the right of the image, white on the left with purple coming from below, and more blue from the back

*used Corel PaintShop Pro to do most of the work

*use a script called Watercoplor.pspScript which you can get online

*tilted the image 4 degrees to the right

*saved the png image

*opened Fotor to use an Effect called Rusty

*opened the green screen image again in PSP

*layered the image over the background photo

*removed the green screen using the Magic Wand: Mode - Add, Match - Color, Tolerance - 70

*used the Erase tool to get rid of any left over green screen pixels

*Used the Deform (known as Transform in PhotoShop) to make me larger than I was in the pic

*created a .. meh photo

I caught this coyote patrol while exploring the freeze-up of the lake. There were four of them. The one on the left carries some bounty, likely a rabbit, in his fangs.

The Southern Hawker (Aeshna cyanea) has almost the size of an Emperor Dragonfly and is one of the most common dragonflies in Europe. The males are often seen patrolling along ponds or small rivers looking for females or prey. It is a very inquisitive species that will approach people, but there is no reason at all to be scared of them.

All the gulls patrol the clifftops, looking for an easy meal, whether it be robbing puffins of their catch, actually taking unsuspecting puffins, or rabbits, or if their luck is in, they will snatch a Manx Shearwater chick, if it gets to close to the entrance of the burrow. They are ruthless, but you have to admire them, they are tenacious predators !!!

The green season is very special.

It´s harder to find animals due to the high gras, but if you find them then you are blown away with beautiful motivs.

The blooming gras add so much to the pictures.
