Down here in Texas, even our Mockingbirds love to celebrate America's Birthday! Happy Fourth Of July Everyone!
This old beach hut has undergone a paint job since I was last here - early spring I think. Maybe when our beloved late Queen died or King Charles ascended the throne - just a wild guess but it looks cheerful. The chalets vary enormously in decor both inside and out and not all of them have windows both back and front - maybe to avoid vandalism I imagine. The Chalets at Chapel St Leonards have a real bolts and braces approach and some are boarded up and some have the roll up garage door type of thing but you can't blame them I suppose...the thing is they only have an electric point for a kettle etc and a sink and tap but no toilet......
Wasn't going to post the red white and blue cupcakes, but my grandaughter insisted! (she helped make them!) She likes the second photo better..I like this one! So, I compromised and posted both! Hope everyone's having an awesome Memorial Day!

As I headed north on my trip to Hay River and Yellowknife, I passed by this farm between Valleyview and Peace River, Alberta. It was a cloudless day when I first when by and I hoped that I would have a better sky on the return trip (and that I'd remember where the place was!). Well, both the skies and my memory cooperated with me on my return trip.
For a week in August 1974, Norfolk & Western assigned its bicentennial unit, SD45 1776, to the Orland Park commuter train in Chicago. On August 14th, the commuter crosses the Calumet Sag Channel just north of Palos Park. Photo by Joe McMillan.
The temperature was 118° and very humid outside. My little friend doesn’t look her normal self with the way her feathers are so tight against her chest. I had bribed her with a piece of chicken so I could get my beloved flag in the photo. Photo taken with my always ready iPhone.
Took this capture while hiking in North Dakota on the 4th of July. Seemed fitting for the day. Captured with the CPL filter.
