A heron stands motionless in one of the lakes at our local Nature Reserve. I stood and watched for quite a while, but he (or she) hardly moved, so great was the concentration required to catch something edible. This is one of the smaller lakes at Plantsbrook Nature Reserve, only a short distance away from home. Once again, I'm so happy to have had Marnie with me, she doesn't frighten wildlife and waits patiently while I take photographs 😃. She's the perfect companion.

This immature Little Blue Heron was waiting for the perfect moment to strike. You can just see hints of its blue plumage starting to come through.

I took a trip to the refuge last month to try some wildlife photography with my new zoom lens. Needless to say I still need some practice, but here's the best photo I took from about 200 shots!
This robin was sitting in a tree and must have wanted its picture taken. It sat perfectly still for several minutes while I snapped away.

I waited for the snail to emerge from its shell but it wouldn't play ball. Hours later it slid off behind the rock. I had been outwitted.

I was observing the fisherman's strugge to untangle the octopus from the net. All the time a stray cat was waiting patiently until it was finally rewarded with a fresh fish from the day's catch.
This photo took a lot of patience, my first photo completely tweaked in Photoshop. Phew... Patience!!
