BACKSTORY: Oh, rainbows! Why not have a party for every color in the rainbow? We wanted to throw more parties, but it was hard to think of a bunch of specific themes, so we often didn't really have one. Clint had the idea to have a party for each color in the rainbow, in spectral order. Our first party was the RED PARTY: "I like red!": A celebration of red.
The one picture of Andrea (R.I.P.) from our party.... She wasn't really around us during the party, and then passed out rather early. She then woke back up, once everyone else (except Scot) went to bed.
Andrea's original caption for this photo was, "Reddy or not Scot, give us this day our daily Red :0)"

They're growing up too quickly!! I've know Taylor since she was at nursery school with my younger son... so 13 years! I can't believe she's 16 now (well, I can... my son is also 16... but, you know...!) Her mum asked for a 'drip cake' in pink with dark chocolate drips. I topped with with a 16 made from cookies, covered in 100s & 1000s, and lots of other goodies, including gold Maltesers, mini Party Rings, dolly mixtures, sugar roses, jelly beans, home made 'jazzies' - and there was a royal iced cookie on the front! The cake itself was chocolte sponge with raspberry buttercream! Happy birthday, lovely Taylor!

The party ring is first made by Fox's Biscuits in 1983. It is a circular biscuit with a central finger-sized hole and is not dissimilar to shortbread in taste. On top of this is a layer of hard coloured icing with "wiggly" lines in a different colour.
Party rings were a product of the 1980s fashion for the newly developed chemical food dye system that enabled more lavish colours to be incorporated into the manufacture of biscuits. This made them a very popular choice for children's parties, where not only could the colours amuse, but the holes in the middle enabled them to be placed on a finger, often resulting in "ring races". These involved each child taking five rings and placing one on each finger of a hand. They would then proceed to eat them as fast as possible, with the inevitable danger of biting a finger a bit too hard.
The crisp, hard sheen on the icing is because of the use of carob bean gum — the carob, or locust bean, is also sometimes used as a chocolate substitute.
Because of the demographic popularity of the product, most "party ring children" are now of university age, and many universities have societies to appreciate such confectionery items. These societies came to notoriety in 1999 when Fox's Biscuits changed the packaging of party rings, causing petitions, heavy leafleting campaigns and a sit-in outside their production plant in Batley, West Yorkshire. A standard pack of party rings consists of a long plastic tray containing five biscuit wells, each holding four biscuits of the same pattern, making twenty biscuits per pack. Fox's decided to remove the purple/yellow biscuit because the dyes used had been linked to certain health problems. Instead of replacing them, they removed them completely, leaving only sixteen biscuits per pack. Through their determination, the university societies not only managed to have the purple/yellow biscuit reinstated (using newer, safer dyes), but many societies received a letter of apology from the managing director of Fox's Biscuits.

Grayson didn't keep up with the theme, so we kicked him out.
Just kidding... But that's a great caption. He actually took our old radiator to melt down for art! The party got rid of our huge, heavy radiator! It was amazing!

Tuesday 10th February
I bought some Fox's Party Rings yesterday. They seem to be a bit of a cult thing amongst 90's kids (according to Wikipedia anyway).

i think its cus im dieting so its all food i shouldnt really be eating >.>
HBW
anyway back to revision for me...
No children's birthday party would be complete without Fox's Party Rings. The Pink Wafers and Jammie Dodgers (with custard) were just for extra whimsy.
(P.S. This was from my actual birthday party.)
This one is based on the Magic Cake Shop Lady from the Land of Goodies (Enid Blytons,Enchanted woods collection)

Hurray, the lovely Dr Phil has send me biscuits!
For my shame, I was actually scoffing on the last Party Rings as I remembered that I wanted to take a picture of them. So you might notice that they are carefully arranged to hide that the packages have been opened.
I sampled them carefully and was most amazed by all of them.

Everyone hanging out outside. That's our future trespasser walking into the door... I think she had re-awoken by this point. Andrea's skunked-on mattress has now been moved outside of the house...Where it sat for *thirty eight* frickin' days, until I made a threat to put it on the curb, at which point a bumbling stooge of hers showed up unannounced, "paid" to retrieve the mattress, not knowing what day of the week it was, and without the rope he needed to keep the door to his vehicle closed after loading. We had rope. It was good rope for bedroom use. We did not give it to him. We gave him an elastic strap that we got for free at yard sale, and told him Home Depot was 2 blocks down the road. The experience was par for the course.
