Lower Klamath NWR is one of the most biologically productive refuges within the Pacific Flyway. Peak waterfowl populations can reach 1.8 million birds. The Eared Grebe is a small, stocky water bird with a thin, pointy black bill. This guy was in his distinctive breeding plumage that consisted of golden plumes on his face and a bright orange-red eye. He had a peaked crown, with mostly black with chestnut-brown flanks. He looks like he’s been out partying all night with his wild, blond hairdo and bright red eyes.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!
Today is a red day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Macro Mondays is party. I must admit, this last week, felt like a crazy party. It was spring break for my 2 sons and I took few days off from work just to spent some time with my boys. Of course, they are almost grown up (17 and 13 years old) and would bet more than able to take care of themselves but I figured out: why not ? So we did a few mother and sons awesome things around Montreal. And we had a blast. However, since I’m not big on planning ahead our schedule was very hectic. On the top of that I had a few (lots of !!) hacked accounts problems so my husband had to deal with all that for me (and he helped me tremendously !!!). Let’s just hope that this next week will be more like an after party… As for my picture: I decided to go with a bottle of vodka and a tiny miniature cocktail glass. I’m Polish, so usually, a party involves some drinking…at least at my house. Of course, you don’t have to drink alcohol if you don’t want too !! You can celebrate with tea, water, juice or whatever your choice of poison is…

I saw exactly one Cedar waxwing yesterday and didn't get a good shot. Today as soon as the blinds went up I saw one and ran to get the camera. I know they usually travel in groups (what's the appropriate collective name?) and they didn't disappoint. No matter the pose, they always look so dapper. This shot has seven with one poor robin giving a butt shot. And now they're off.
