On the eve of the National Model United Nations Conference to be organized in Baku on 20-23 February 2016, selected participants visited the UN Agencies in Azerbaijan to learn more about the international organizations’ functions, mandate and activities both in a global and in the country level.

Participants met with UNDP Resident Representative a.i. Ercan Murat and UNDP Deputy Resident Representative. They were briefed about the achievements made by MDGs and new 2030 Agenda as well as UNDP role in implementing the new agenda. They discussed all related issues that will further help them during the simulation to be organized during the upcoming conference.

It should be noted that various topics, such as “Strengthening UN system and reforms”, “ Legal assessment to historical events”, “Protecting historical sites and cultural heritage in a conflict zone”, “Protecting personal data” and “Refugee crisis” will be simulated under five committees during the conference. Participants will mock as a diplomat seconded to UN General Assembly, UN Security Council, UNESCO, International Telecommunication Union and UN High Commissioner for Refugees
