Parc Güell. HDR. Peleng 8mm

Con la colaboración de Edu i Miquel. :D

(ENG) The Park Guell was formed with the joining of two areas "Can Muntaner de Dalt" and "Can Coll i Pujol", in the "Muntanya Pelada" (today muntanya del Caramel), purchased by Count Güell the year 1899.

Gaudi conceived as a religious sense at the same time as organic and urban, and using the 60 meters of gap which has the mountain (the height ranges between 150 and 210 meters respect the sea) to project a path of spiritual elevation, placing in its top a chapel, but it was never built, in place that currently holds the monument to Calvary (or Turó de les tres creus).

With Gaudi worked some of his more common colleagues, Josep Maria Jujol, Francesc Berenguer, Joan Rubió and Llorenç Matamala. The works were made by contractor Josep Casanovas i Pardo.

Getting these three in a photo, all of them looking kinda normal at the same time... not gonna happen. Notice how they didn't even turn to face the camera. Haha, love them though ;)

After napping in a completely dark room for an hour or so and a cold shower, I headed back to my next ticketed attraction, Parc Guell. This is a large meandering park with features designed by Antonio Gaudi, the great Spanish architect who also designed Sagrada Familia. It was supposed to be a housing development, but it never took off, and Guell, the developer, eventually gave it all to the city of Barcelona.

It was in the mid-90s this day, I had already had a strenuous experience at Sagrada Familia, so you can imagine my dismay when I turned the corner and saw that I would have to ascend a mountain to get to this park.

But as you can see from a few of these pictures, the place is full of unusual details! I think I would have appreciated it more if it hadn't been so very very hot.
