To achieve a good catch, several parameters are needed:

be there at the right time and when the light is beautiful, finding the best angle of view

and adjust the camera properly, the camera is not everything, in fact:

I saw photos "breathtaking" with a compact device.

The art of the picture is not simple, but requires a little care and observation ..

When I took this picture, everything came together to produce a beautiful image.

That day, all friends of flickr would have the same result.

Good weekend to all my friends, and good photography

I make this image public for getting an impression of the AVIF format (can be opened in the latest IrfanView, Chrome and Firefox): Link to AVIF in Google Drive

The AVIF image compression (in the HEIF container) is a very promising format as it provides good image quality in a very small package and is (in comparison to HEIC) free of any licenses. I hope Flickr as well as Google and Microsoft products will soon have full support for this innovation.

Besides the high compression efficiency the big advantage over JPEG is that a color depth per channel of 10 and even 12 bit is supported.

This sample is generated using the avifenc.exe command line encoder for windows.

I used this parameters:

avifenc.exe --cicp 2/2/1 -r limited -y 420 -j 6 --min 30 --max 40 --minalpha 30 --maxalpha 40 in.png out.avif

The result is:

- 6 threads used (for my 6 CPU cores)

- to colorspace YUV420 (422 and 444 is not supported by the Windows AV1 extension)

- 12 bit per channel

The Macro Mondays theme for 1/10 is corner and this is one of the possibilities. This is a box that held Christmas cards and the vertical measurement of the corner is just over an inch and half. This may be my favorite, followed by the lighted tree base (unique), the gift box noir (closest macro) and the tiny duckies in a blue pond.

……Btb, for those who had seen this before, I cropped this down so it definitely would be within the 3” parameters!!

The last part of the miniseries focuses on the "Style" parameter in the Niji・Journey Bot.

As you know, with mirrorless cameras, getting flight shots is tough with a busy background. In the Z9 firmware update 4.0, they added a feature called Auto Capture. I tried it out yesterday. All you do is set up a tripod, enter some parameters for the shot you want, activate the program and walk away. The camera looks for any combination of settings and takes shots on its own. This one was set up for motion in a defined area of the frame. Lets say, it worked great.

The Macro Mondays theme for 2/14 is love. This is one of the many pieces of art made by my DD for various occasions— this one is a stylized daisy, which is my favorite flower. Only captured one quadrant in order to stay within the size parameters. This is probably going to be my posting for the day!! (there were six i posted :)

.......…..💙❤️HMM❤️💙

posting for music to my ears in Saturday Self-Challenge today

I could write much on what makes my heart sing but I'll keep to photographic parameters and say that the possibility of a macro flower shot does it for me.

Often, my significant other half being a keen gardener, I will find the opportunities at home and, if there has been a recent shower of rain, the raindrops are always welcome.

I think this is about as dark as my photography has ever gotten for the Dark City Deutschland collection, but I like to experiment and push boundaries; comfort zones are for the uninitiated! This is a skyward LE of the commercial Novotel Tiergarten Hotel in Berlin, taken on a dreary late night and a very light drizzle was present, hence the few drops on the lens, which at first I was objecting to, but Vera, my sexy partner in crime, said it made for an interesting feature within the image so I kept it.

I look at this and I think of dark alternative / parallel dimensions, a co-existence of sinister parameters where all is devoid of recognisable life, yet, all things are consciousness in the darker and more evil sense, if you ever have seen the movie Event Horizon you'll know what I mean; for another words, the building itself is a "living" entity, perhaps even demonic.

So on that delightful and cheery note, I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

At a not-so-busy night, I went to dark mountains and tune my larger equatorial mount (Tak's NJP) with a telescope 1m focal length.

Guiding parameters for diurnal motion is not completed yet and star image is not true circular in this photo. The problem, however, gets gradually to converge, I think :-)

A watch, especially a complication like this one, comes with many labels to identify the various parameters of time. This Oris moon phase, dual time zone complication is powered by the Calibre 581 developed in 1991 by its watchmakers in Holstein, Switzerland.. This particular watch has performed flawlessly through many time zones for many years. Submittal for the 6/15/20 Macro Monday's theme of "Label.”

It all depends upon the timing. I should know, I am a drummer. There were so many times I would be stopped at the beginning of a song and told it's too fast or it is too slow.

Then upon some study I found out that almost, or the majority of songs were in the same speed. Very little differences.

Happy Whatever day it is.

DeepSkyStacker + Lr - my first attempts to stack photos. Photo consisting of 21 photos with exposure parameters 12 mm, f / 2.8, ISO 3200, 5s - OBO tripod + Manfrotto XPRO 3W.

I have calculated that for an observer using a 12mm lens (MFT) and an eye resolution of max 1 "angle (this is for a person with great eyesight and for good eyesight it is 2" angular) - the maximum exposure time for getting the view of unmoving stars is about 4,33 s. Such photos without visible foreground can be snapped and then folded as panels with the foreground not moved into a mosaic.

I wanted to check if (O-MD E-M10 Mark II) M.Zuiko 12-40 mm f / 2.8 could work in the landscape field Astro (with the subject of the foreground on the ground) without a head with guidance (sky with stars as mosaic panels ) - please give me an opinion.

I am thinking of using Star Adventurer or iOptron Skyguider Pro, but since the results of star formation are punctual, does it make sense to use the head leading to the astro landscape with the subject of the foreground on earth?

The blurred glow at the bottom of the photo comes from slowly flowing clouds gently lit by the glare of lights from a city 20 km away (Opoczno).

I didn't have time to adjust all the parameters when I took this snapshot, and my moving subjects were a bit "erased" by the shutter. But on this picture, it creates something special. Sometimes what you think you missed can still work!

HMM.... the theme for today, 8/10 is water and, although i took a lot of pictures, i'm only posting two possibilities. this is a little duck eraser in a wine glass, filled with water. in the first comment box i'll put the verifying/establishing shot to show he's well under the 3" parameter. ............BUT i did learn that it's not easy taking pictures through a heavy/thick mexican wine glass's walls :)
