June 2nd, 2021, Ontario Province' Stay Home Order lifted, we are free to roam! And the heavens gave us one fine day :-)
I pass this wee tree, twice, every day, on the way to, and and back from work. I always think it looks really lonely, up there, by itself. The poor wee thing has had a hard life: up here, it has the North Atlantic winds and lashing rains barrelling in from the west, to contend with. Also, this crazy, almost vertical road must be a blast to ascend in times of snow and/or ice! Taken just after a heavy shower, then the sun came out!
This is a marker for me that I’m halfway home...

“We turn away to face the cold, enduring chill
As the day begs the nights for mercy, love...
...I’ll see you again when the stars fall from the sky
And the moon has turned red over One Tree Hill.”

The Smile on Saturday theme is ORANGE! For those of us who have been teachers or parents or artists, this is a well known staple in the creative kit!
There are four orange possibilities in the photostream along with a collage of the four.

Shapes are two dimensional and forms are three, I was told. So these are shapes. Photo No. 1 of Study No. 5 - 2023 Shapes and Forms. Want to take a guess what this is if you have not seen it before? Answer: The "Ni" in Nike in a shop window turned sideways.
Picked up another one while sifting back through the archives, one that I had always intended to post but somehow never got round to.
A straight Pano-Sabotage shot, with no photo-manipulation. Saturation was bumped up, white glare reduced and contrast enhanced. C'est toute !
Despite the many different shifts in styles and methods since I began photography in earnest 8 years ago, the common theme of the undermining of the straight line and the dominance of Euclidean absoluteness is demonstrated here. Einstein over Newton one might say.

The #macromondays theme for 7/12 is #iSpy. There are a couple of possibilities but this is my favorite!! I love photo props I can consume. (Btb, this stack of Oreo thins is a little over an inch high.)
On Weston Pier a few years ago. The seagull is the only one in the picture not being funelled towards the building at the end to have their money extracted by enticing amusements.
sometimes my world goes wobbly, stones rain down, chaotic reorganization, footprints in the grass, lost between two parallel lines.

The ring road in Iceland is not only a great route to travel but is itself an item worth capturing. Over the past nine days, I have captured a number of aspects of this famous road and hope to share them over the coming weeks. This is the first and was struck by its simple geometry.

There is plenty to see at the U.S. National Arboretum, but one of the highlights is the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum.
Situated in Northeast District of Columbia, the museum was the first in the world dedicated to Bonsai and Penjing. Many of the trees found here were gifted by Japanese donors in honor of the U.S. bicentennial in 1976, with several of the trees on display in training for well over 100 years prior to their arrival on U.S. soil.
Walking through the Japanese Pavilion, I came across this Shohin display incorporating Hinoki Cypress, Gardenia, and Japanese Maple under a pergola. The shadows on the wall behind the Shohin display reminded me of the classic Blondie album, Parallel Lines - hence the title, a line from the third single, 'Picture This', released from that album.
A bit of digery-pokery for a friday night. Can anyone guess what the background is.............?
Thanks for looking,
