Derrida calls ‘deconstruction’ this reading that seeks out, isolates elements, fragments, underlying realities, inscribed in a text from beneath appearances. A text [or the surface of a rock] has a main meaning and underlying currents. A text contains a pre-existing ‘latent text’.”

Taken on the A166 between Stamford Bridge and Garrowby Hill. I drive past this field every day on the way to work, and I've said for ages that I need to stop and get a shot in.
Hubble's recent 28th anniversary observations also included some parallel observations which were not part of the photo release. I'm totally here for that.
In this image, reddish, orange light represents mostly gaseous emission of energized hydrogen atoms, and muted, blueish gray areas are largely reflected starlight. This combination of light results in an image quality I am very fond of, but I must confess it took me a very long time to understand it beyond oooh, pretty. Once one understands that parts of the clouds are emitting light, while other parts are simply reflecting light, the shapes and coloration begin to make more sense. They are not very different in some ways from water clouds seen on Earth, but our water clouds are most frequently seen reflecting the Sun's light, and not ever emitting their own light.
Interestingly, there are only two filters available to work with for the parallel observations. I wrongly guessed that the same filters used in the primary observations would end up being used in parallel. I don't know why.

Two mirrors stood facing each other on the opposite walls of a room. If they were perfect mirrors this photo would have shown a series of rectangles, one inside another. But the mirrors were not perfect: there were slight distortions and they build up as the number of reflections increase, so the innermost mirrors are the most distorted. Also, the glass is not perfectly clear, it absorbs red just a tiny bit more than other colours, so the light in the reflection gets bluer and darker. The real world is altogether more interesting.

I traveled to Carburn Park to lead a Nature Calgary group this evening. We saw 33 species. I did not get many photos but was happy to get a few snaps of some of the 40 pelicans seen along the river.
I was also thrilled to see a beaver swimming parallel to us and then climb up on the bank.
Thanks for your visits and comments! They are all greatly appreciated!
CN's Kingston sub parallels highway 20 in Montreal for quite awhile (CP's Vaudreuil sub as well) and here CN 327 with CSXT 3181 leading is heading west on the south track of the Kingston sub after crossing over.

i planned something about wood and texture for the theme and didn´t notice the little fella at first. he finally caught my eye when walking parallel to the gap between the wooden planks. on any other day i would probably have overlooked the whole scene.

There was not a lot of time tonight, so fortunately, we were able to take a quick shot on the footbridge in our local park during our quick walk.
