Plate from "Paper Sculpture" by Alan Allport, 1971, a how-to book.

Paper artist Polly Verity's sculpted paper faces are featured on the All Things Paper blog this week. Such a fascinating process and quite the departure from her previous work: www.allthingspaper.net/2020/05/tantalizing-paper-sculptur...

Designed by Ronald Koh, folded by me, James Lucas. The model is 8 feet long, folded from a rectangle 8.5 inches wide by 22 feet long. It has 5500 scales (folded the tedious, time-consuming way) and thus took four months to fold. The model is free-standing, with no structural supports of any kind. Completed November 4, 2009, 12:40AM. (I don't ever want to fold it again).

Meet Yeni Kim, the creator behind March Studio, who is a talented paper artist and art director. One of her most spectacular miniature scenes is a dimensional paper representation of Luxembourg Garden in Paris. She is in the Artist Spotlight: www.allthingspaper.net/2025/03/miniature-paper-model-arti...

Handmade paper on black canvas (60x80 cm).

The paper was more like straw fibers pressed loosely together than any other handmade paper I worked with before.

Richard Sweeney's book Paper Sculpture: Fluid Forms from Schiffer Publishing is a beauty. If you've wondered how on earth folded and curved paper forms are shaped so perfectly, consider this book a tell-all: www.allthingspaper.net/2021/10/paper-sculpture-fluid-form...

The newest issue of the All Things Paper newsletter is ready for you: bit.ly/3ZnoDJf

It includes all sorts of finds from the world of paper and even dips a bit into AI-generated art via this 'paper artist folding paper faces in studio' work that paper sculptor artist Polly Verity (@polyscene) asked it to create and later shared on Instagram.
