Constructed by PAPERCRAFTER JEAN.

A new collection requested by an art gallery as gifts for their employees.

Yesterday was my...uh...(whispering) birthday. It puts me one year away from that most dreaded of all birthdays...a year with a zero in it.

Kate is a paper crafter and she made me a camera!!! As you can see, it even produced pictures!

It was so cool, I had to share.

Hi papercrafters.

Sorry for the long absence, but sometimes it just has to be like this, although I would prefer it differently…

From now on I will try to keep my descriptions as short as possible, highlighting just what I think not to be obvious or easily identified. In this case, I stamped and white heat embossed some stars on the background that aren’t visible. Once again I used the triangle background to make embellishments, which I believe this die is great for. I was inspired by the Pinkfresh Studio color block wood veneers, despite I didn’t know that there was a blog hop at Taheerah's place, involving this company… I couldn’t even remember the name of the company that came up with these fun embellishments that I love… now I won’t forget :).

The handle in the felt box is a partial die cut using the smallest plane of SSS dies.

To stamp the sentiment on the paper in the typewriter I used Staz On ink, and for the one stamped on wood veneer paper, I first sand it and then stamped with VersaCraft, the only ink that didn’t smudge. After triyng with Staz On and Archival ink unsuccessfuly, I googled and found this suggestion at Splitcoaststampers.

This paper sculpture is made of painted construction paper. It is about 12 inches high. Also inspired by a trip to Williamsburg.

My first attempt at Zentangle. I created "Heartstrings" using the tutorial by Helen Williams found here: tanglepatterns.com/2013/02/how-to-draw-heartstrings.html

I used the Becky Higgins Project Life Black 05 journaling pen on white Canson cardstock to create my heartstrings, really need to try 03 or even 01 for a more delicate design. After struggling with where to cut my panel, my dear husband came up with the wonderful idea to fussy cut them out - LOVE how they turned out!!!

The sentiment is from the Sizzix Stephanie Barnard Regal Card Stand-Ups Framelits Die Set - I layered 3 together for dimension.

The flourish is the "Ivy Tendrils" die from Poppystamps.

I used an A4 sheet of black Canson cardstock scored & folded in half to make the card base, the red & white panels are Canson cardstock too. My card is sitting on some red cardstock with some black hearts scattered beside it ... I've seen it with sequins & thought I would give it a try :)

Hearts are definitely popular in readiness for Valentine's Day and Mother's Day => I created & entered my card for the following challenges:

~*~ Cure For The Monday Blues # 42 Heart Strings found here: littlemisst-papercraft.blogspot.com/2015/02/cure-for-mond... The inspiration image is in my gallery here: www.flickr.com/photos/35965272@N04/15833819773 - I think the image and the Zentangle Heartstrings technique were made for each other :)

A copy of the inspiration image is the next photo in my gallery (here is the link www.flickr.com/photos/35965272@N04/15833770263/in/photost... ) and includes kissing booth, chevrons & red/white/black combo - I think my Zentangle Heartstrings have a real chevron "feel" :)

~*~ PaperCrafter's Corner Magazine Monday # 85 Challenge found here: papercrafterscorner.com/blog/papercrafting-challenge-maga... The inspiration image (also found here: www.flickr.com/photos/35965272@N04/16268161807 in my gallery) shows a heart with a shattered, crackle effect and I think my Zentangle Heartstrings work well with the theme.

Made of wire and white and silver paper. The ornaments are made of paper also.

The tree is about 2 feet height.

I felt like it was time to change things around.

Lamb is thrifted, canvas is done by me. Pink frame is thrifted, I painted it. The flower is a thrifted vase, I just liked the colors. .

This is a close up of my black striped paper balls. A new collections requested by an art gallery as gifts for their employees. This is my attempt to turn my 3D paper work into 2D art images. I do not now how successful I was! ;-)

I was inspired by Magazine Monday Week 79 on Paper Crafters Corner for this card design. The magazine cover for this challenge is a vintage one with a large headline at the top, red swags, reindeer and a Christmas theme. Instead of red swags, I die cut a red flourish. The background stamp is by Heidi Swapp, the die cuts are by Sizzix, and the sentiment is by Making Memories. I used natural colored seam binding for my ribbon.

I bought a small set of Brusho Crystals some months ago and had yet to even open them so I decided to play with some of the colors tonight...and put this card together. I used a Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die, Brushos in Lemon Yellow and Turquoise, and a sentiment stamp by Dare2BArtzy (More Cake set) and Mark's Finest Papers (Big City set) for this colorful card. I was inspired by Papercrafters Corner Magazine Monday Week 139 for this festive city skyline scene.

Dare2BArtzy April Challenge: Polka Dots. Now, at first glance you might not see any polka dots, but one of the reasons I used Brusho crystals is because the crystals leave vivid spots of color on paper when you spray with a little water....or, in other words, they make polka dots! www.dare2bartzy.com/wp/528-2/

Synopsis

Here is a collection of 32 simple projects for novice origami hobbyists — clearly illustrated and with easy-to-follow instructions that even beginning papercrafters can follow with success. Subjects range from an ultra-simple hat, cup, and pinwheel to the more challenging (but still unintimidating) penguin, pelican, and piano. Also included are the figures of a swan, lantern, cicada, pigeon, fox, rabbit, and other popular origami subjects. With the successful completion of these projects, origami hobbyists will be well on their way to mastering a fascinating art that's as old as the invention of paper itself.

The structure was made from recycled folders and covered with painted paper towels. This piece is about 10.5 inches high.

I used the MSAM sketch #89:

myscrapsandmoresketches.blogspot.com/2014/08/my-scraps-mo...

And I just got the new MME Jubilee collection - Wild Berry color scheme - which I won in a prize drawing from Papercrafter's Corner.com. :) Fun to play with!

This page documents our dog Lucy's first haircut (by us, at least). Not having ever gotten a dog groomed before, I chose a clipper blade "5" - well, it turned out really short!

She was still cute, though...and definitely a lot neater. We all agreed that we'd let it grow out a bit before the next grooming. ;)

TFL,

Cynthia

I have entered this in the Paper Issues New Issue: Mum's The Word found here:

www.paperissues.blogspot.com.au/2014/04/new-issue-mums-wo...

This started as a vitamin jar and is now a pretty arrangement standing just under 11 inches high.

Scroll across to the right to learn how to make these dimensional flowers and for close-up pics of the arrangement.

I like using these amber jars because it makes it hard to see the stems inside the “vase”.

Here is the recipe:

1 - make the flowers - start with 8 petal punched flowers, I use the eyelet tool to punch a small hole (for a brad) in the middle of each flower, cut off one petal from each on, leaving 6 petals and a tab formed by trimming off the top of the petal (scroll to left to see tutorial photo), overlap the ends, apply some liquid adhesive (strong & fast drying) adhere together to make a slightly dimensional 6 petal flower (I do this using the rounded end of a small paint brush). Curl each petal for more dimension (I use the same small paint brush). Punch out some contrasting flowers for the centre of each flower, I use an eyelet tool to punch hole in the centre. Layer 2 of the large flowers, top with a contrast flower then secure together with a contrasting brad.

2 - make the leaves – made using 2 different punched leaves layered together, with darker on as the base.

3 - make the band / trim for around the "vase" – made using layers of different border punched strips and ribbon. You can use different different border designs to suit, for my one I put 2 layers of contrasting green leaves for the lower edge and butterflies for the top edge, with some contrasting ribbon along where they overlap and to make a bow. To make the butterflies stand out, I layered the punched edge over some contrasting cardstock, traced the edge with a light pencil and fussy cut. Apply some adhesive to the underside of the butterfly border and adhere to the fussy cut contrast layer. (One day I will try inlaying the tiny butterflies instead of overlaying the border strip.)

4 – make the butterflies – for this I just adhered two punched butterflies together, with a darker colour as the base, the top layer with the wings folded upwards for dimension, like the wings are fluttering. Add some bling along the centre for the body of the butterfly.

5 – assemble

- adhere the band to the jar with the join to the front – it gets covered with some ribbon and flowers. Decorate with more flowers, ribbon and butterflies.

- adhere flowers to green pipe cleaners – I like to make a loop behind the centre of each flower so there is more area to adhere to, keeping them firmly in place (if possible, loop around and bend the brads over the pipe cleaner too). Bend the other ends of the pipe cleaners and insert into the vase, trim & bend to ensure they sit neatly and securely, add adhesive if you want them to be permanent.

- adhere leaves to the stems of the flowers

- add aquarium pebbles to add weight & stability to the vase and hold the stems in place.

6 - enjoy your everlasting flower arrangement, it makes a pretty decoration and sweet gift.

I used lots of my favourite adhesives, Helmar 450 Quick Dry and Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue. I painted the Acid Free glue to secure the flowers, leaves and punched border layers together.

I used 450 Quick Dry to adhere the flowers & leaves to the "stems", the punched border trim to the "vase" and the ribbon to the border trim, the flowers to the border trim and the flower & a butterfly to the "vase" - it is the perfect adhesive, like liquid hot glue, it dries fast & clear but you have enough time to adjust all your layers in to perfect position before it sets.

OK - you know the adhesives I used, now you need to know about all the tools, which included lots of my favourite Fiskars punches – extra large & large Oopsie Daisy Squeeze Punches, medium & small Flower Lever Punches, Leaf Me Alone Squeeze Punch (base of layered leaves), Leaf It To Me Squeeze Punch (top of layered leaves), Ivy League Interchangeable Border Punch, Butterflies Border Punch, Flit On By Squeeze Punch and Eyelet Tool.

This project was inspired by and entered in the PaperCrafter's Corner Earth Day Challenge found here papercrafterscorner.com/blog/papercrafting-challenge-eart...
