Just in case the urge to bake should overcome me: hahahaha, no.

For "Macro Mondays" group theme of "Zigzag"

Cup cake cases.

We bought these several months ago - a multi-coloured pack in a clear plastic tube.

Lid removed, tube placed on my desk in the sun and a few hand-held photos taken. All a bit experimental with a 'new' lens.

All a case of keeping things simple - KISS!

Cosmicar TV lens 50mm f1.8

(The lens is fitted with a spacer ring to fit into a C - m4/3 adapter. Unfortunately the lens doesn't focus to infinity but I have a 'cunning plan' - and it won't focus less than 4 feet either! So I've used an extension ring to get the paper case well within the 3" required size. Photograph was taken at full aperture of f1.8 so the usual limited depth of focus.)

M wanted to make some cup cakes so we bought a pack of cases in the local convenience store. But back home they seemed too big and looking again at the box we realised the cases were for muffins!

Not what M wanted, but always looking for something I've added them to my box of items that might come in useful sometime!

But I just had to remove a few!

Put them on my desktop and side light them!

Looked more than interesting!

Camera, adapter, extension tube, and a scruffy enlarger lens that I picked up on eBay and hadn't used before, all mounted on a table-top tripod.

Took a photograph.

Quite like the result - looks to be B&W but camera was set for colour!

Oh! And the cakes didn't get made, but a 'cut & come again' fruit cake did! Next time ......!

HMM and Happy New Year all!

I made these as a birthday present for my Mother-In-Law and Brother-In-Law. Based on a Delia Smith recipe which was originally designed for Comic Relief in 1997. I replaced the Red Cherries on top with bright hundreds and thousands.

It might even make a good header for the new photostream page.

Some of my latest shopping:-) They are called Ice cream cups but they are just as sweet as cupcakes.

So I could not go home without them:-)

I called in at daughter's home to find grand daughter putting the finishing touches to a batch of cup cakes, some were in green cases sitting on a green chopping board. Just perfect for me and I get to eat the props later on.

Got them from Urban Outfitters here in Cph.

Found at Papercase this little guide of Budapest city appeared to have the same front page layout as a pantone swatch

Get your eggs and butter out of the fridge and go and do something else for a bit.

Preheat the oven to 150C (300F, gas 2). Line an 18x18cm square pan with greaseproof or a re-usable baking liner.

Melt 240g dark chcolate (I used Lindt 70% cocoa) with 100g butter in a bowl over a saucepan of simmering water. Take this bit slowly – avoid keeping the heat on the saucepan all the time. You can do it in the microwave too. Stir until melted, and leave to cool down a bit.

Crack 3 eggs into a mixing bowl, and whisk in 135g caster sugar with an electric whisk until pale and creamy. Or use a hand whisk and firm muscles. [if you like vanilla add a good dose of quality extract here]

Fold in 55g plain flour, if you like coffee: 1 and a half teaspoons of espresso coffee powder, otherwise the same of flour or cocoa. I use Dove’s gluten free flour.

Fold in the choc/butter mixture carefully.

Pour it into the tin. Lick the bowl and spoon.

Into the oven for 20 minutes. Yes they seem wobbly, but avoid over-cooking. Nobody likes an overcooked brownie.

Leave to cool completely in the tin. I left mine in the fridge once they’d cooled to room temperature before slicing them up. You could dust them with cocoa powder before slicing, for an extra choc hit.

Makes 1 enormous greedy slab, 9 coronary-inducing size, 16 or 25 bite-sized.

These little cakes are just cooling, waiting to be iced.

Finally available at the Farmer's Market. Elvin didn't have any last year.

"A perennial from rhizomes, 8 inches to several feet in height. Mature plants develop a papery case over the berry. Found throughout the eastern United states, west to Utah and Texas, also found in Washington."
