My entry for Macro Mondays. A very interesting theme indeed, Helen and Barbara ;-) HMM!

This tree fall on the ground during Hurricane Irma.

Now, it has over 25 papayas, which I enjoy eating with homemade Kefir and a touch of Maple Syrup.

Thank you for your visits and comments.

For Looking close... on Friday!

Although most of the scenic spots in El Nido are found in the islands at Bacuit Bay, there are also several beach gems inland. This is Papaya Beach, one of the lesser known beaches in El Nido. Since few people come here - it's only accessible by boat or kayak - we got to have our little slice of paradise on our visit.

Thank you for your visits and comments.

The papaya is a small, sparsely branched tree. Its origin is in the tropics of the Americas.

The fruit is a large berry. It is ripe when it feels soft (as soft as a ripe avocado or softer), its skin has attained an amber to orange hue and along the walls of the large central cavity are attached numerous black seeds.

The unripe green fruit can be eaten cooked, but not raw due to its poisonous latex content. The ripe fruit of the papaya is usually eaten raw, without skin or seeds. The black seeds of the papaya are edible and have a sharp, spicy taste.

Papaya, (Carica papaya), succulent fruit of a large plant in form of a tree. Though its origin is rather obscure, the papaya may represent the fusion of two or more species of Carica native to Mexico and Central America. Today it is cultivated throughout the tropical world and into the warmest parts of the subtropics. The papaya fruit is slightly sweet, with an agreeable musky tang, which is more pronounced in some varieties and in some climates than in others. It is a popular breakfast fruit in many countries and is also used in salads, pies, sherbets, juices, and confections. The unripe fruit can be cooked like squash.

These papayas are hanging by a long stem, unlike others that grow close to the tree trunk.
