Verso la fine dell'interminabile Costera Miguel Alèman, ecco l'ultima figura mitologica: Narciso, che guardando la sua immagine riflessa su uno stagno, s'innamora di se stesso e cade nello stagno, annegando. Qui lo scultore lo ha messo invece su uno scoglio, credo per farlo vedere meglio dai tanti turisti che visitano Acapulco. Avrei voluto avvicinarmi di più per fotografarlo meglio, ma non avevo il costume da bagno, mi sarei inzaccherato pantaloni, calze e scarpe. Pertanto vi prego di accontentarvi di questo scatto a distanza

Riassumendo, si tratta della descrizione di un vecchio, come se ne vedono spesso, che vaga per la spiaggia raccattando materiali: un po’ come un vagabondo da spiaggia, che l’autore definisce “lo spiaggiatore”.
Il vecchio spiaggiatore aveva sul viso le tracce del vaiolo, dissipate dalla forte abbronzatura. Indossava pezzi di almeno quattro diverse divise: una mantella della grande guerra, una maglia color cachi degli americani, una giacca tedesca (forse quel tedesco lo aveva ammazzato lui stesso), pantaloni da carabiniere e, come chicca finale, una piastrina di riconoscimento da marinaio.

It is commonly known as the small-leaved plane, carnival ochna, bird's eye bush, Mickey mouse plant or Mickey Mouse bush due to the plant's ripe blackfruit, which upside down resembles the ears of Mickey Mouse, and bright-red sepals, which resembles his trousers) is an ornamental garden plant in the family Ochnaceae which is indigenous to South Africa. It is planted in southern African gardens and is an invasive species in Australia and New Zealand.
