Panoz at the turn-in point at the beginning of the base of the esses. Tricky vantage point to get a shot as the fencing is pretty heavy duty here. Not to mention being up on my toes on a step stool to get just above the Armco.

All things considered, I think the quality held-up pretty well considering this setup.

Taken on October 20 2019 while trying for some slow shutter speed panning. The photo turned out well with the back of the car merging with the track's stripes! No motion blur was added in post.

This was an experimental outing to test my old 400 on my 5D and 7D. I did not have a chance to try this set-up here at The Glen as my 300 has become my primary.

I was not terribly happy with the way the 7D performed and has disappointed me for the last time. I just do not like the way it renders and it's hit-or-miss AF system... regardless of the quality of glass on the end.

What a bugger it is trying to catch them (from spectator views) as they just 'pop-up' over the Uphill. Gonna need a bigger step stool.

Another 70-200mm & 2x TC test...

This time with some panning and a chance to see exactly how fast the AF will lock-on with a 2x TC attached.

I decided to test something out here. I've been spending quite a bit of time learning, testing, trial and error... with my 400 f5.6. I decided to try my canon 70-200mm f/2.8l is ii usm which is very sharp, with my 2x teleconverter and see what it yielded at 400mm @ 5.6

To my surprise, it actually had a better DOF and was nicely sharp and contrasty. I'm not sure how viable this combo would be in use all day, especially since I typically need longer lengths, but it was interesting to see how the quality was. I did not see any real loss in quality.

I've had my eye on the 300mm f2.8 for a while. Physically, I cannot do the 400 f2.8 for events. The 300 appeals because I can get 300, 420 and 600 with my teleconverters and the quality of the 300 is better than the 70-200... which is already good. Decisions-decisions...

Not much to crop here... still 5629 pixels wide.
