One of the unexpectedly *good* outcomes of a summer in lockdown is all of the downtime. Instead of running around, as I typically do, I had the chance to enjoy all of the colors in my neighborhood, and how they changed over the season. These were courtesy of a passing summer storm.

Over the long pandemic I developed an ability to capture close ups of blooms around my yard. The camera mounted on a tripod and the blooms protected from breezes allows sharper focus on the flame acanthus, Anisacanthus quadrifidus, and not worry much about the depth of field. My camera sensor with its macro lens is only about 25 centimeters from this flower so my depth of field I know will be small. I put the far-left anther in sharp focus in hopes that the others will be acceptable focus. The petals from the acanthus flower are mostly in focus. I dehazed the photo to accentuate the contrast. I toned down the brightness of the anthers on the left flower. The contrast between the red-orange and the mottled out of focus greens of the background pushes the flowers forward. The sunlight lightens the throat just enough to where the filaments can be seen emerging from it.
Pandemic by Daniel Arrhakis (2020)
The times that shape our destiny are only reflections of the past, the future is the path we choose when we look forward to the present with courage!
My best wishes and prayers for a new dawn soon !
Be safe dear friends ! : )
One of three photos taken while walking from my home to the Humber Bay Park. It took 45 minutes round trip. More people were out and about but most wore masks.
Thanks for visiting, enjoy each day, staying healthy and hopeful. #BeKind
On March 13, 2020, the first cases of covid-19 were reported in Uruguay. These are some photos taken in the following months.
At this time of pandemic, most of the popular destinations in the city are quiet and less packed with tourists. Most people are taking advice and staying home.
I had a short walk in Granville Island. It is quiet and calm there.
Wish you a good weekend!

HBM! Happy Bench Monday everyone! Taken recently in the Humber Bay Shores area, near to my home in Toronto.
That little blue boat has been tied up there for many months, (they are not supposed to do that, in front of the bench you can see a yellow sign prohibiting you to do so) In the Summer you would see the owner hanging out, playing music. No sign of him, hope that he is well.
Thanks for visiting.. Stay well, we will get through this global pandemic. #BeKind
Well, before the CDC had officially designated COVID-19 a pandemic anyway. With a passing inbound glinting in the final moments of winter sun (and giving the illusion of a much longer train), a pair of F59PHIs roar up the grade from Racine Avenue with an outbound Milwaukee District run of some flavor, just a few minutes out of Chicago Union Station.
