I was walking around Pandan reservoir. That day had such an awesome atmosphere, constantly switching between sun and rain. Hot hot hot, wet wet wet, sweating and drying, grabbing some shots between the rain showers. Why paying for a sauna when you can have it for free. Anyway, got some pretty good pics that day, it was all worth it.

Megeret Pandan (pandanous scratching) is a secret attraction held annually in relation to Usaba Sambah festivity at Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village. Megeret Pandan means scratching or hooking thorny pandanus leaf to the rival's body until bloody.

Tenganan Pegeringsingan is situated at Manggis district, approximately 70 km from Denpasar. It is near Candidasa and can be easily reached by public or private vehicles.

Tenganan is one of several ancient villages in Bali, which is usually called "Bali Aga". There are some versions of story telling us the history of Tenganan village. Some say that the word Tenganan was derived from the word "tengah" or "ngatengahang" which means "move to the inner area". This derivation of word was having a relation with the movement of the villagers from the seaside to a rural area, in which the position of this village is in the middle of hills, that are western hill (Bukit Kauh) and eastern hill (Bukit Kangin).

As an ancient village, Tenganan Pegeringsingan is identical with religious activities. Many temple festivals performed in this village that attract visitors to come. The most famous one is "Mekare-kare" or "Perang Pandan" and also called Megeret Pandan. This is a ceremonial fight or war using thorny pandanous leaves as the weapon. This festival usually takes place in relation to the celebration of Usaba Sambah on Sasih Kelima or the fifth Balinese month. Many other uniqueness of custom and culture can be found here that make Tenganan worth to visit.

baking on the beginning of 2021 :)

This picture was taken from Pandan Indah flyover, Kuala Lumpur. I'm fed up with the never ending traffic jammed. However, God has given me a wonderful sighting. Luckily I bring my camera all the time... this is my second time I captured a wonderful sighting from Pandan Indah flyover after the sign of Allah appearing from clouds on 22/11/08.....

A pendite is on a trance during the perang pandan festival/ceremony in Tenganan village, Bali. He tried tried to puncture his chest using a very sharp "keris" (a traditional knife/weapon).

This is not a pose or acting!

This act is part of a religious ritual by the Balinese people.

The Tenganan village holds various Balinese religious ceremony throughout the year
