Week 10/52. Breakfast is served! Started our weekend with breakfast at @thefoodhubca. Thanks Paul and Gena! #52weeksphotochallenge #pancakeart #oneofeach!
Me: So, I really should get with it.
Me: Well, yeah, but how about some pancakes first.
Me: Ummm... Do I really have time? This stuff is really important - got to get cracking.
Me: It didn't take long last time - a few pancakes for breakfast!
[Starts walking to kitchen]
Me: You know, wouldn't it be cool to pay tribute to loplop - this is a great recipe.
Me: Huh.
Me: What the he**? Sure, give it a shot.
The results of this captivating inner dialogue are above.

Don't try this at home.

I am NOT an artist (probably does not need to be said, as is demonstrated).
Has had way too little coffee in the past 6 months. Try none. How DO I live?
Well that ain't bad. Only a 30 minutes delay ... Have a good day all.
Now... Off to it!
Definitely one of my favorites! Too bad Allie didn’t seem to care for it very much, I think I ended up eating him after she ate the chocolate chips. This one is all about the plating. Need to work on a better rattle for the tail next time.

This collage was made entirely from magazine strips with a technique I call "painting with paper." I cut the paper into different shapes and layer them in such a way that they look almost like the brushstrokes in a painting.
If you have any questions about this piece, feel free to send me a message or leave a comment.
This my friends is the FUTURE of pancake technology. I think this is what astronauts eat for breakfast. If they don’t they should.
The flames on the rocket didn’t quite go as planned, but you get the idea. The moon was the easiest thing I’ve ever made, looks just like the moon pancakes my dad used to make me.
Me- “Dad, I want Mickey Mouse pancakes!”
My Dad – “Uh…how about this one—it looks like the moon!”
My dad could’ve been a great salesman.
This was pretty fun, except for the part when I burned the crap out of my fingers trying to flip the little pieces. Luckily Allie doesn’t know how to play tic tac toe yet, so I easily won this round. The old man’s still got it!
A very half-assed attempt at a penguin. For some reason I thought it was going to be more black and white but the colors didn’t quite work. I probably should’ve let the batter-outline cook for a longer amount of time. Allie didn’t seem to care though, she ate it anyway.
Allie decided she wanted a bird, and the first thing that came to mind was a flamingo. The flamingo quickly turned into an ostrich or something though, but I don’t think she knows the difference.
Alright…now we’re getting somewhere. I’ve refined my coloring technique and I was able to get the ear and eyeball to stand out a little. Bonus: the crispyness of the overcooked parts add some nice texture to the pancake. Overall a success I think. Allie liked it too.
I think Allie requested a poodle, so this is my attempt. Pretty successful for my first shot I think, but the batter was too runny and I ruined his face. Next time I’ll try for some more color variation and body-line distinction :)
I gave them both fish, seaweed, a jellyfish and an oyster with a whipped cream pearl. He got a seahorse and she got a crab.
Step 1: take all the left-over batter from your pancakes.
Step 2: Cook thoroughly on one side only (because there is no way you are ever going to flip these things easily, I tried).
Step 3: Throw into a bowl and add a little syrup and butter. Freaking delicious.
