Migration starting. This Palm landed several times next to my blind at Gietzel Wetland. Not a spectacular warbler but then aren't they really all spectacular! Looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Cheers!

The Parlour Palm, or Parlor Palm in America, or by its Latin name of Neanthe bella is one of the most sought after indoor palms around today. The reasons for this couldn't be more straight forward - It thrives in our homes and workplaces where other species may struggle and it's also one of the cheapest palms you can buy.
We encountered this Palm Crow and its partner on our way out of Trinidad. We knew that Palm Crows were in the area but we were only finding Cuban Crows. We were out photographing them when we heard the distinctive call of a Palm Crow in the distance. To our delight the Palm Crows flew right over us allowing for a couple of quick photos.

Palm Cove is a coastal suburb of Cairns in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. It is 27 kilometres north of the city of Cairns. It is named after the palm trees that line the beach.
We stayed in the camper park nearby, early morning I got up for some sunrise photography down the beach and this is the result.
Thank you for every view, fave and, comment, in advance.
"Palm Warbler" someone shouted, and, my look was confused. You posed for me in hopes, that I would notice your distinct marks, past your yellow colour.
my favourite palm in Lanta island's small but beautiful National Park with some old growth rainforest. The palm is a 'Kerridoxa Elegans', a species endemic to Thailand that can grow up to 5m high. They like it near the Andaman shore, but sheltered under larger trees, just like i do :)
.
i love it when sunlight filters through the canopy and illuminates these magnificent giant leaves. Check out another shot of the same species i was lucky to experience years ago in Phang Nga province.

I went back to Planting Fields Arboretum today with a dear friend... this time only using my Lensbaby Velvet 56...
Interesting town. Rolled in hungry here late afternoon Dec 24th, town was closed (holiday); forced into an awful burger chain :-|
Palm leaf.
Having pretty well exhausted whatever potential I had for the sublime this week I thought it time to give the ridiculous an outing.
This is for Sliders Sunday. I didn't have a lot of time so it's more a proof of concept rather than the finished article.
Palm leaves are interesting because of their radiating lines. This started out as a rather poor attempt at capturing an image of one in my garden. That failed so it was consigned to the Sliders Sunday Rescue and Recycling Project for Failed Photographs.
The basic idea I wanted to try out was to take the patterned image, copy it and flip it horizontally and vertically and then blend the two layers with blend modes and reduced opacity. It worked quite well to give the criss-cross effect.
For this one I hue-shifted one layer to get different colours and then used Difference blend at 80%. That created most of the effect, and I could have left it there.
Playing a bit more, I then took the result and solarised it using Nik Color Efex (a fun effect). Then the result was partially blended back into the previous two layers using the advanced blend mode (which only blended a certain range of tonality) and a bit more hue-shifting.
Really I was just messing around and going for some pretty colours...
All good fun, and and a bit of trying not to take photography too seriously... (Same applies to the title :) )
I'll link the blurry original in the first comment as usual so you can see how far we came.
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image :) Happy Sliders Sunday!

Close up of a palm frond - loved the way the light was coming through from behind and highlighting the intricate nature of the veins and the contrast of light and shadow.
Magical Palm Trees in Paradise - Coastal State Road A1A - 11/27/22
My favorite "sunrise in paradise" location on Key West. These palms are featured on Jimmy Buffett's A1A album, and the back cover is about 50 yards north of here. While he lived here this was a favorite spot of his and he wrote a few songs here. Have been attempting to get the best shot of these palms for many years. I'M STILL TRYING!
