Maywood. I'd always wondered why pallets were such big business. It turns out they evolved with the fork lift. Makes sense.
I found a great article, including discussions of pallet wars, here. www.cabinetmagazine.org/issues/52/hodes.php
Since I have a three day weekend, I decided to upload my not-so-more wip that I was talkin about. Anyone remember that one rainbow loom fad? If so, I got inspired by the rubber bands. As I didn't have a real loadmaster fig to go with the pallet, I just grabbed some random one. Hope you like it.
I'm so incredibly grateful for the explore on this one. I've gone through many stages in my pursuit of Humpback whale photography. Lately, I've been setting up colorful, dynamic backdrops for my shots, with rough seas, mountains, clouds and golden hour pallets. However, this shot is more haiku than sonnet. It's hard for me to strip down an image to its bare essentials, but when I pull it off, I'm really proud of the results. The square black and white format is photography's foundation. It is parchment and quill. It is cave painting. I imitate it out of reverence. I'd like to save up enough for a Rolleiflex 2.8 or the like, but that will take a while. In the meantime, I'll shoot with what I have and focus on removing things from the frame. Thanks for the compliments!
Final result of my American Flag pallet leaning against a tree in our front yard (with the Stars & Stripes flying on the house in the background). AMERICA!! Patriotic & Proud...
Taken with my LG G4 and uploaded via Instagram.
There was a LOT of them...some old, as these, some newer, as far as the eye could see. Well, not that far.
Taken during my walk along the now Rainham To Purfleet Walk, about halfway, I think at Coldharbour Point, but I was transfixed by the wonder of so many pallets...

I had to circle back around when I saw this photo waiting for me in the Walmart truck entrance.
Taken on my smartphone, and edited in the venerable Vignette app. It's been ages since I used it, and I forgot how much fun all of its wonky toy camera effects can be.

I drove right past these pallets on the River Road, but couldn't get the bright blue image out of my head till I went back and shot them. Sometimes you have to search for a shot...sometimes you are just compelled to shoot something!
