Mt Paku in Tairua is a volcanic peak rising up between the southern end of Tairua Beach and the Tairua harbour mouth.

The climb to the top is short and steep, with a scramble up big boulders just before the summit. From the top of Mt Paku, you will experience scenic views of Tairua and Pauanui, the Tairua River, the Coromandel Ranges, and out at sea; the Aldermen Islands, Mercury Islands and Slipper and Shoe Islands. Fantails are often flitting about at the top of Mt Paku and Pohutukawa cling precariously to the edge of the mountain.

Entrance to the Tairua harbour, low tide and very calm.

Flower buds of red horse-chestnut (Aesculus × carnea). It's hard to believe that this big structure was, together with several huge leaves, enclosed in a single leaf bud just a few weeks ago.

Taken pre-dawn at Tairua, Coromandel Peninsula of NZ. Paku hill on the left blocks the rising sun so pre dawn a glorious flood of light emerges, spilling into the water in the harbour.

SI Paku Lanang was a song sung by Nona Asiah in 1961 in the film SI Tanggang. This song was taken and re-arranged in the form of Inang beat and is a new creation based on the dance moves that has been reconstructed with the use of the fan as props accompanying this dance. The dance is one of the most popular dances of the National Cultural Complex (Komplek Budaya Negara).

What do you think this is? A view into a foggy cornfield? A Close-Up of dry grass? Okay: it is a macro of a stupid brush.

Ocean Beach, Tairua looking to Paku

We, papa, mama and our 3 childs were on our trip to a holiday house in catalania, spain, in autumn 2007, the evening came and we left the motorway to look for a little hotel nearby. But the way we took ended at a blind alley. What a luck! So I found this lovely calm peaceful scenery!

Téměř každé pondělí a čtvrtek vyráží ráno z Turnova Mn 84109 do Nové Paky.

Mt Paku in Tairua is a volcanic peak rising up between the southern end of Tairua Beach and the Tairua harbour mouth. 7-8 million years ago, Paku’s origins as an island volcano commenced with an eruption of ash and pumice. About 6,500 years ago, sea levels rose and allowed the sandspit north of Paku to develop and establish a land bridge, connecting the island volcano to what we now know as Tairua.

Pōhutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa), also known as the New Zealand Christmas tree, or iron tree, is a coastal evergreen tree in the myrtle family, Myrtaceae, that produces a brilliant display of red (or occasionally orange, yellow or white flowers, each consisting of a mass of stamens. The pōhutukawa is one of twelve Metrosideros species endemic to New Zealand. Renowned for its vibrant colour and its ability to survive even perched on rocky, precarious cliffs, it has found an important place in New Zealand culture for its strength and beauty, and is regarded as a chiefly tree (rākau rangatira) by Māori
