"Coho was designed by Philip F. Spaulding & Associates, of Seattle and is named after the coho salmon commonly found in the Pacific Northwest. Coho was the first large vessel built on the West Coast in 20 years solely with private financing. The vessel was built by Puget Sound Bridge & Dry Dock in Seattle, Washington and made her first sailing to Victoria B.C. on 29 December 1959. She was originally powered by two Cooper-Bessemer diesel engines rated at 2,080 bhp (1,550 kW) each. In 2004 she was refitted with two V-12 Electro-Motive Division (EMD)12-645F7B diesels rated at 2,550 hp (1,900 kW) each. Coho has twin 8-foot (2.44 m) stainless propellers with twin rudders. Her overall length is 341.5 feet (104.1 m) with a service speed of 15 knots (28 km/h; 17 mph)."
While this sign was from another year and the parade this year (2016) is on June 18th, the fact remains that volunteers are needed.
I normally have a couple of brandies as a nightcap. Last night though, I confess to having a tot of whisky as well.
I'd spent most of the day painting the inside of the front garden wall. It is the worst one to paint so I figured start there and the job will only get better.
Then I had to spend a good hour cleaning the roller, the roller tray and the brush I'd used. By the time I had finished, my back was sore and I was tired.
Pam called a couple of times; she had a problem locking the conservatory door at her father's house and then later was struggling with his digibox. Very frustrating for her and difficult for me a thousand miles away.
So between the physical joys of painting and mental effort of trying to work out how to resolve Pam's problems over the phone, I felt like I deserved a drink.
This is probably the cheapest brandy you can buy here. At just over 4€ a bottle, it is good. I much prefer it to brandies at twice the price.
PS I found a good tip on the Internet which I might try. Line the roller tray with cling film to avoid having to clean it. When the job's done just lift the cling film out and throw it away. Pity you can't do the same with the roller!

** The green, not the dirty jeans color, which is... splattery. When my grandma saw me she said "Whoa! Look at them pants! Somebody shot ya!" To which I replied, "Yes, I bleed white. And green. And blue."

Painting, a lot of painting, and help from family with the painting. And did I mention painting? See also, a mad trip to IKEA wherein we couldn't fit 2/3 boxes into the car and had to request help not once, but twice, to get the boxes safely away from the car park. And then, late to the lovely Suki's birthday meal (which was SO delicious! And SO lovely!) and then a ridiculous drive home late at night, singing along to some equally ridiculous songs and laughing like crazy about our inability to measure boxes.

I purchased this paint roller over the others as it's appealingly fluffy and soft with a lovely red stripe swirling through it. Not that it makes much difference to the walls.
Been up there for a few months now. The building is part of what is left from what once was Rudansgård.

The Crowley Maritime Type 750 "Legacy Class" Articulated Tug and Barge combination is the largest ever designed. The three 330,000 bbs barges are being constructed at VT Halter, Pascagoula, MS and the three tugs at Dakota Creek.
The tugs, designed by Naviform in Vancouver, BC, have unique propulsion pod housing. The two Wartsila C32 Main Engines and the controllable pitch propellers produce a total of 16,000 HP. Each engine/propeller is arranged in two seperate engine rooms and are capable of runing on heavy fuel oil." - DCI

This is a wonderful shop, straight out of the 1950s. It's an Aladdin's Cave of delights, and is a rare place these days. I needed new brake blocks for my bike. Sorted.

Norman Breakey invented the paint roller in 1940. He was never able to produce his invention in large enough numbers to profit from it before others made small changes to the paint roller's design and were able to market it as their own invention.

In 2007, a major fire damaged most of the East Somerville Community School.
In 2011, work finally began on rebuilding the school.
Here is a chronicle of the reconstruction work, starting in April 2011 and continuing until the school re-opens in the Fall of 2013.
