With a protuberance large enough for only one turtle to find a place in the sun, these two apparently found a simple amicable solution.
Painted turtle (Chrysemys picta, Emydidae), probably the midland subspecies (C. p. marginata) or perhaps mixed with the western subspecies (C. p. bellii).

A turtle on the park was basking on the sun and then slow and steady she reached the lake and disappeared under the waters.

Green Heron and the Painted Turtle encounter-
Once the Greenie realized the Painted Turtle wasn't going to be a meal, or a threat he quickly turned away and went back looking for something else to eat
I think Greenie got a small frog

Painted Turtle
Sitting in my bird blind waiting for the birds to enter the scene, I happened to look out towards the ponds edge and saw this Turtle just lounging around on this tree log...well I just had to try and get a shot!
Thanks for viewing, commenting on and your Faves of this image! I greatly appreciate them!!
For the Smile on Saturday theme of shells for 12/10…. I’m not sure where my “real” shells are but this little guy was part of my DD’s collection and came home with her. It’s special for that reason!
Btb, the backdrop is a very cool bandanna that arrived in the mail today from a dear one— how serendipitous!!

A face to face with this turtle that I found in the park, she was stumped! Yes, I lay down on the grass to meet this new friend. Her shell was so dirty that she looked like a round rock. (Believe it or not, I talked to her for a few minutes!)😊

Saw this beautiful painted turtle yesterday sunning himself on a log. He was far away behind a bunch of reeds so I kept creeping closer, hiding behind the reeds in front of him. I got a soaker in my rubber boots and was sinking in the mud. But it was worth it! I was close enough to get a few shots before he noticed me and jumped into the water.
Let’s hope the shut down of Flickr this Wednesday for maintenance will finally fix all the problems everyone’s been having. The last few days have been terrible for me. Pages won’t fully load and it takes forever to leave comments.
Have a wonderful new week Flickr friends! Tina and the Puglets xo

Thanks everybody for your kind comments, really appreciated!
Here a painted turtle balancing on a rock. Walking around the lake looking for something to photograph, while the pebbles and grass slipped inside my Croc sandals. Carrying a camera and lens of almost six pounds in my hand is a hard task, especially if you walk for two or three hours, if you are a woman, if you are short and in addition you carry a backpack with more lenses. A little disappointed because I never find or see those beautiful birds, deer, etc... that the members of the groups post here. Maybe I need to be patient and wait for them; Of course, they won't come out when I'm walking. Patience is what we have left behind in this conflictive present... even so we cling to hope.

Painted Turtle
Finally warm enough that the turtles are coming out of the water to sun themselves!! I love that the algae hasn't started to over take the pond yet either!!
Hope you all are doing well. Stay safe and healthy!!
The painted turtle is the most widespread native turtle of North America. It lives in slow-moving fresh waters, from southern Canada to northern Mexico, and from the Atlantic to the Pacific. The turtle is the only species of the genus Chrysemys, which is part of the pond turtle family Emydidae.
Chrysemys picta picta
Swampy area along Turner Road, Meridian Township, Michigan. I was looking for frogs, and couldn't see this turtle for the longest time, even though it was looking at me.
Went for a nature hike this past Thanksgiving weekend and spotted these two little lovers that found a quiet spot on a fallen log in the middle of the pond.
I would like to thank all of you that have taken the time to view and comment on my photos, it is very much appreciated.

I took this photo recently from the canal. There were a lot of turtles sunbathing.

Painted Turtles - 1223
This was a treat to watch. When I came across these turtles, there were two, sharing what might be described as bigger than a branch, but smaller than a log. Let’s call it a small log....
A third turtle decided to join them, but in the process the other two got deposited into the water as the small log rolled. As the other two climbed back on, all three ended up in the drink. This process continued with various permutations for about 20 minutes until all three ended up on the small log............... for a brief time until one of them moved.........

We are almost to the middle of October. there will not be many more warm days left. These Painted Turtles also know that. They are soaking up the Suns warmth before they bury them self's in the mud for the Winter.
