I woke up to a white world of snow as the Arctic front keeps on affecting what was looking to be spring weather.
So I thought I'd post something from a road trip in warmer times. This is the Painted Hills in Oregon - truly a sight to behold!
For this week's MacroMondays challenge Painted.

I haven't had any time to shoot lately, so here's one from the archives of late summer.
I hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving Holiday, and if you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, then I sure hope you have a nice week!
By the way, this texture is from Pareeerica....thanks again, sweet lady!

My favorite house in the neighborhood. Imagine waking up everyday with that view... unless you got a better one... :)
Finally bagged my first ruby throated hummingbird!! I was so excited!! Was at a client's house and she had two feeders in the yard. So, I sat there on the deck for two hours and watched two hummers go back and forth around the feeders. They would show up maybe every 15-20 minutes for about 3-8 seconds if I was lucky. They were so small! Maybe 2-3 inches in size. She's away next weekend too. Can't wait to go back!! These guys are such a challenge to capture!
Added my texture- Paint by Numbers

A beautiful great white egret flying over the Celery Farm pond.(NWR) He was about 100 feet up high. I absolutely love these birds!
Added my own texture "Paint by Numbers" and Florabella Action- Summer Vintage.
Well, since I couldn't find a good subject, I went to the store and bought one. A friend gave me this mason jar a few weeks ago and I wanted to photograph it somehow. So I bought a few mums and placed the jar on my front steps in the waning evening light.
Thanks to Dog Ma for the use of this wonderful texture.
Believe it or not, this bud will turn into a dark purple bloom that resembles a rose in many ways.

Messing around on the back patio.
I found the tootsietoys this weekend, and took the paint by number from our collection.
Old newspapers lined the wall and behind this shelf there was this beautiful paint by numbers piece. I wanted to snag it, but no-I did not steal from a church...
post here
I had been using this Sketch Program by Akvis for the airplanes out at the museum and got the Idea of a paint by number thing... Course there are no numbers on this picture but it was fun doing something different.. The Clips are an action that Panos sent us for Christmas...

I found this at a yard sale a few months ago. As a kid I tried these paintings, but never seemed to have the steady hand it required to get into all those tiny areas. Hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane with me.
Scalzi sent me the Velvet Wesley. Angie K sent me the paint by numbers version of me holding the picture of the Velvet Wesley that Scalzi sent me.
Now, here is a picture of me holding the paint by numbers version of me holding the picture of the Velvet Wesley that Scalzi sent me that Angie K sent me.
Next stop: EMMY!
I finally finished this paint-by-number painting. It was a learning experience to try to mix the right shade of yellow, and I didn't actually achieve that, but I am happy with what I did. The yellow is a little bit lighter than the original, but I think it looks good.
As for the other panel, it will be harder to finish than this one, esp. the fence.
A sister image to the one next door... it's the same bird taken a day apart up close and personal. He's actual bigger in this picture than in real life. I tried about ten different textures in the background but my Paint by Numbers(blurred) was the only one that made the ruby throated hummingbird pop nicely. The original background was plain white.
He is sooooo damn photogenic and turning into one of my favorite clients to photograph. Used my Paint by Numbers texture (gaussian blurred 10.6%) for the background.
