I really like the play of light and the patterns created by the buildings reflected on the water.
I've had a busy weekend and am behind on comments so I shall be catching up tonight - HMB!
Piazza San Marco (St. Mark's Square) is so well known, you can either say too much or too little about it, but there is a reason why it is THE tourist draw in Venice, above all others. Here you can find all things Venice in one stop, which is precisely why it is so crazy crowded from about 11:00 am to late afternoon.
In other words, get there early! Beat the other tourists to the Campanile (bell tower), St. Mark's Basilica with its stunning Horses of St Mark, and the Doge's Palace (at left in the photo). I recommend you see them in that order, too. You can also see the Biblioteca (centered), the Clocktower and arcades, take photos of the Bridge of Sighs, shop and eat off square, and when you are ready take a gondola ride from the docks.

I first visited this little oasis a year prior with Willie, Rami, and Terence but didn't come away with any photos due to ... well, to be honest, it was Terence’s fault! Terence was so late in meeting us that by the time we arrived at this waterfall the sun started invading the photo. Willie managed to snap a photo but by the time we switched spots, the light was ruining the scene.
Zack, Willie and I went back this year and we made sure to arrive with plenty of time (of course cloudy skies also helped). March and April had been very dry in the Portland area and a lot of the greenery, the moss and ferns, that we had hoped would be at peak bloom, simply weren’t there. The scene is still stunning and we all came away with some gorgeous photos.
This place has been photographed a billion times and the most common spot was taken a little bit behind where I took this photo. I just loved the shape of the ferns in the lower right here and the way they framed the waterfall and creek.

فإن أبيت إلا أن تكون حريصاً على المعصية ، مصراً على التقصير في الطاعة ، حتى في زمن الخيرات فأخشى أن يحال بينك وبين الهداية والتوبة والرجوع الى الله ، وحينئذ تتحقق فيك عظيم الخسارة .
اللهم بلغنا رمضان أعواماً عديدة، وأزمنة مديدة، واجعلنا فيه من عتقائك من النار
وكل عام وانتم بخير

This is the only snowman I've seen today as the snow they forecast failed to make it to Birmingham :-(
UPDATE - just looked out to see we now have some. I wanted to shoot it in the light though so it's a bit late... Maybe I'll get the chance tomorrow.
Dear flickr-friends! Flickr/smugmug has made some significant changes, especially for Free users.
For Pros, there'll be a lot of improvements, for Frees, there are gonna be... changes. Massive limitations. Major limitation is the content-size. From January 2019, they'll reduce the content-space for free users from 1 TB to 1000 pictures! If you don't reduce your content, they'll delete pictures to 1000. Great. Frankly said, I don't want to have a Pro-account. First: I don't see any ads (😁), in my opinion the price is too high. So I'm gonna reduce my content. I first thought of leaving flickr for this, but I don't know alternatives. AND I got to know so many great and wonderful people, I really don't want to give this up, wonderful community! 😍
So, what will you free users do??

Flickr/smugmug haben einige erhebliche Einschränkungen für free-user bekanntgegeben. Für die Pros wird es tolle Verbesserungen geben, für die Free-User... Veränderungen.
Die hauptsächliche Einschränkung wird die Limitierung der Größe/des Inhalts des Fotostreams sein. Von vormals 1 TB zu ab Januar nur noch 1000 FOTOS! Wenn ihr eure Inhalte nicht verkleinert, wird flickr dies ab Februar für euch tun. Super.
Ehrlich gesagt, möchte ich keinen Pro-Account. Erstmal: Werbung seh ich eh nicht (😁), zudem ist der Preis meiner Meinung nach zu hoch. Also werde ich erstmal etwas von meinem Stream löschen.
Erst dachte ich daran, flickr den Rücken zu kehren, aber Alternativen? Außerdem habe ich hier so tolle Leute kennengelernt, das möchte ich eigentlich nicht aufgeben!
Also, was werdet ihr free-user tun?

This was a fun photo to take. A couple of years ago I noticed these hawk moths working on these Wasatch Penstemons. I thought the two would make for a fun shot. This was well before I had a nice flash or my macro lens. I used my Nikon d200 and the pop up flash. This plant is just now starting to bloom again and I am excited to use a nice flash, my macro lens, and my D300 to try and recreate this photo.
