While confined indoors with a little flu I thought about packaging, walked through the house and photographed some. Quite badly I might add.

We overpackage, there is no doubt about it. And its become not only an environmental but a security issue

Sometimes some innovative people make something new out of old packaging - see top left (part of a giraffe made of old cans) and top right (angel made of old cans).

Hope you have a good Sunday

WEEK 34 – Horn Lake Walmart, Set I

Last but not least for this Saturday, a semi-close-up of the HL WM's packaged deli department. I will say that the signage doesn't look all that bad here (and indeed, I liked the original Impact, and admit that the following iterations did keep its fundamental design intact even if it cheapened the physical quality of the décor pieces)... it's just the lack of signage elsewhere, in more zoomed-out views, that contributes to the “cheap” environment. But I'll get more into that next time, which is in two weeks.

Next week – speaking of “iterations,” more from the Southaven Gordmans reopening is on its way...!

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)

A clever livery advertising their parcels service adorns Eastern Counties AAH 735J. The bus is a Bristol RELL6G with ECW B53F body RL 735 new in December 1970. The location is Norwich bus station, sharing space is XAH 381H a Bristol VRT with ECW H39/31F body VR 381 new June 1970.

*I would normally straighten up a leaning picture but to do that would cut off a chunk of the VRT which would be a pity.

While no two packages ever turn out exactly the same, all our bags are generally sealed in a zip-lock bag (just in case of torrential rain, like we saw in Brisbane a week ago!!!) and then prettily wrapped in brown paper.

Reclaimed crochet cottons are used to tie up the packages with a reclaimed button, and our little thank-you tags or notecards we mostly buy from Jellygnite and Percival Road, both on Etsy.com. (Seen here is one of Percival Road's Christmas notecards). Both shops are highly recommended for sweet and nostalgic paper goods made from vintage paper ephemera. We like how they add a personal and old-fashioned touch to the packaging, and inspire us to write sweet messages on our parcels :)

This is for an upcoming post for the BrisStyle blog on packaging at www.brisstyle.blogspot.com

Thanks Ultron! I received the contest prize that belonged to me yesterday and I must say this is a great set as well.

I never know what to do with this sort of spectacular stuff other than just look at it. Can't seem to find a way to incorporate it into my Christmas scenes around the house, (not with touchy feely kids around anyway), and besides, I just don't have the space. Gaahh, vintage packaging. It's unparalleled! <3

~ adjusted to the mood & spirit that August carries {or at least is supposed to carry} with, soft greys, whites, naturals & touches of blue have been used for the packaging of some recent orders. {some handmade, paper boats here & there, too}

~ I try to keep the packaging in our shop always fresh { and the mind creative ;)}, avoiding repeating the same design more than a few times, though of course a certain guideline & style have been established.

~ if you have recenlty placed your order, this is a clue to what you will be receiving.

~ sincerely hope you to like it!

Wish I could do better with my packaging. I find it endlessly frustrating.

My package from asia with my holga camera. It was such a cute thing to see in my tiny mail slot at my apartment.

I wrap all of the jewelry I make in funky silkscreened papers.

I decided that I'm going to try to take a photo of each one from now on, since each package is unique.

// I M P O R T A N T //

The images of this shape is taken at ultra graphic settings, completely raw and have NOT been touched or edited in anyway or form.

We've included the style card in the packaging, although we update the LMs frequently, please understand that some designers change their locations quite often. We've also tried to style all our shapes with the latest skins, hair and clothes which are all available in the respective stores. However, some items might not be available at the store due to the designers own discretion and beyond our control.

Thank you ♥

So... I had a problem finding a good box to put my prints in, so I ended up making my own packaging. Inside is about 20 4x6's and the package is made with a Roundys bag and cardboard... Inkjet printer and tape. Lovely.

Since January 1st 2010, I have been taking and uploading one square picture each day.

French postcard by Editions Superluxe, Paris, no. 13. Picture: Walt Disney Productions. Publicity still for Cinderella (Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske, 1950). Caption: With a cup of her magic wand, the good fairy transforms a pumpkin into a magnificent coach.

Cinderella (Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske, 1950) is seen as both an end and beginning for different eras of the Disney animation studio. The 1930s and early 1940s produced the most critically acclaimed of the Disney animated films, often groundbreaking and experimental in nature, though several of them were commercial flops. The rest of the 1940s involved the release of cheaper package films, films consisting of several short films combined into one. Cinderella was arguably the last product of Disney's 'golden age' and was the first of a new series of lavishly produced full-length feature films. The Disney animated films of the 1950s were in general less artistic and experimental, more commercial in nature. Most of them were box office hits but their critical evaluation often places them below their predecessors. Made on the cusp between the two eras, Cinderella is representative of both eras.

Cinderella (1950) is an adaptation of Charles Perrault's classic fairy-tale from 1697, and the film remains faithful to its origins. Cinderella, the beautiful and kind-hearted daughter, sees her world turn upside down when her beloved mother dies, and her pained father remarries another woman, the wicked Lady Tremaine. She has two equally cruel daughters, the jealous Anastasia and Drizella. But, once more, things will go from bad to worse, When Cinderella's father, too, dies, leaving her all alone in the Lady's clutches to serve as her maid-of-all-work. When her cruel stepmother prevents the shabby and neglected Cinderella from attending the Royal Ball, she gets some unexpected help from the lovable mice Gus and Jaq, and from her Fairy Godmother who has quite a few tricks up her sleeve. Will she find peace and her Prince Charming?

Among the artists responsible for the 'look' of Cinderella (1950), was Mary Blair, whose inspired use of color was greatly admired by Disney. Her elegant French-period backgrounds add tremendously to the quality of the film. But, most important of all' are the believable characters - from Cinderella, right down to Lucifer, the stepmother's deliciously evil black cat. They bring both life and vibrancy to the often-told story, something very difficult to create in an animated film. Disney gave the mice a big role in the main storyline, and this was the key to providing all the humor and suspense needed to spice up the predictable story. The leading mice, Gus and Jaq are delightful creations and the valiant band of mice is given amusing bits of business. A highlight is the 'Cinderella Work Song' in which the mice make a dress for the mistreated Cinderella, full of inventive comic touches and accompanied by the intricate blend of song and animation.

When we went to the supermarket in our last trip to London, we've noticed that, "Our packaging project could go to next level". This second edition has one more variation and now, we are showing all brand names with simple text & same font, without logo or corporate sign in it. The font is Helvetica Neu Bold. Our question is similar with the question in our first post!

What is your choice in these 4 different variations?

1. Original variation

2. Simple variation

3. More simple variation

4. No logo variation
