One of our favourite spots, the west coast of Vancouver Island.
Chesterman Beach is located just south of Tofino, British Columbia. The Wickaninnish Inn can be seen amongst the trees in the background.
The Ocean - its' crashing surf, its' ability to awaken one's senses hypnotizes one and draws oneself closer to it's grasp - we simply have no control.
Beautiful Cox Bay situated south of Tofino, B.C., on the west side of Vancouver Island. The Lennard Island Lighthouse can be seen in the background.
I was running around frantically trying to find a composition as the sun was saying goodbye to the day. I like this shot the best with the framing from the foliage. When I was post-processing this image I noticed 2 deer in the bottom right of the frame which made me smile.

Cirrus Radiatus Clouds are high altitude cloud formations that come in various shapes and take on the appearance of being suspended high up in the skies.
They are very spectacular with their presence creating amazing eye catching skies that are usually fluffed up by strong wind movements. The formation of clouds often resemble brush strokes on an artist's canvas ~ (namesofclouds.com).

The fog lifts and to the Fin's surprise, perhaps disappointment, there 30 feet away was a labrador, not the shy but approachable Shih Tzu he had seen earlier.

“So I was walking down the Pacific Coast Trail when I heard a soft song that began to vibrate in my ears.
As I approached this spot, the music became so intense I could not move but I listened harder as the steady beat was joined by an ephemeral melody that vibrated deeper and deeper.
When I woke up, I was in a fishing boat with two wide-eyed sailors looking down upon my water slogged face. I tried to speak but my gills were plugged ...
When I opened my eyes I was on a beach, water logged and alone. I could see two figures pushing the boat out to sea and furtively looking back. I smiled and sang a new song that day.“
This morning when I woke up, I heard a remnant of that song drifting through the rain ... it rains a lot here ... so days later, I headed back to that trail and stood at the same spot. No matter how I strained my ears I could not hear the song just the waves crashing against the shore, almost hypnotic like a deep rumbling purr or bass line penetrating deeper, so melodic, so hypnotic..."

The bright overcast (which later turned to showers, then rain) provided some nice soft lighting.

An opportunistic stop just a few steps from Hwy 4 on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. A well-driven road with such natural beauty all around.
Our daughter from Switzerland came to visit with her boyfriend for a few days. We had a wonderful visit and spent a lot of time in the car. We zipped from Crater Lake to Eugene to Florence and back to Eugene. I'll be posting a few images from our visit.

Arriving at Cox Bay near high tide during a king tide along with a winter storm was so amazing.
The power of the ocean was so incredible to watch as it tossed heavy logs and stumps about like toothpicks.
There was no beach left to walk on either as the higher than normal tide was coming right up to the trail entrance.
Note the crazy people up on the cliff - very dangerous place to be in a storm with ultra high tides and winds.
The morning starts out a little grey with a few rain drops as the tide rises to one of the highest tides of the year. Love these winter storms that being in so many treasures from the ocean!

This rock formation is an Irregular Basalt Formation that was the result of a lava flow taking place 5 million to 23 million years ago. It is estimated to be 430 feet tall. Often referred to as Oregon's other Haystack Rock in that it is the same as the more famous one located just north at Cannon Beach.
Even being in August it was a very windy day that put a bit of a bite in the air. The waves crashed and the dune grass rattled and whistled.
