Normally, when I am out shooting in the fog, I am thinking B&W. But sometimes, color works too.

North of the fishing pier, the beach has a steep shore with strong riptides.
At some high tides, the waves break over the seawall and flood the street beyond.
A little farther north, the waves are still eroding the cliffs where people once lived (and some still do).

From Montara Mountain trail, San Pedro Valley county park, Pacifica, Calif., April 9, 2017. This is the Linda Mar district. Top right you can see the Sharp Park district and a bit of the municipal pier, and beyond that, the lights of the Sunset district of San Francisco. The peak in the distance is Mt Tamalpais.

A slow wing flap to move from one part of the paddock to another.
I had hoped it might turn and fly in my direction so we could see those wonderful "White Headlight" wing flashes.

Not a regular bird for us, we only see them on irregular visits.
The cricket population has exploded in the mown paddocks and this bird was making the most of the smorgasboard offerings.
Getting close to it was out of the question as it was in the middle of large grassed paddock, and it was early afternoon sunlight.
If it could spot a cricket in the grass, a great clumping photographer waving a lens would have been easy to spot.
