Il centro storico di Benevento si trova su un'altura fra il corso dei fiumi Calore e Sabato, digradante verso la loro confluenza, ad ovest. È attraversato da un asse viario principale costituito dal Corso Dante e dallo spazioso Corso Garibaldi, sul quale si aprono alcune piazze (Cardinal Pacca, Duomo, Orsini, Roma, Matteotti).
The old town of Benevento is located on a hill between the rivers Calore and Sabato, sloping down to their confluence in the west. It is crossed by a main street consisting of Corso Dante and the spacious Corso Garibaldi, on which there are few squares (Cardinal Pacca, Cathedral, Orsini, Rome, Matteotti).

Visto nella fortezza di Fenestrelle, provincia di Torino. Ringrazio il mio amico di Flickr Arnaldo-arny_bol_ che mi ha fatto visitare questo forte.
La sua costruzione inizia nel 1728, per volere del primo Re di Sardegna, dopo il trattato di Utrecht (1713). Non fu mai coinvolto in battaglia, ma divenne presto prigione di Stato. Nel periodo napoleonico, furono imprigionati lo scrittore Joseph de Maistre e il Cardinal Pacca (vedi cella nella terza foto). Nella seconda metà del XIX secolo vi furono rinchiusi i soldati del papa e i soldati borbonici, catturati dall’esercito piemontese.

Its construction began in 1728, by order of the first King of Sardinia, after the Treaty of Utrecht (1713). This fortress was never engaged in battle, but soon became a state prison. In the Napoleonic period, were imprisoned the writer Joseph de Maistre and Cardinal Pacca (you can see his cell in the third photo). In the second half of the nineteenth century there were incarcerated soldiers of the Pope and Bourbon soldiers captured by the Piedmontese army.
