47368 climbs to Cowburn Tunnel near Wash (Derbys) with what I think is a Ditton to Broughton Lane haul of BOC tanks. 9/4/88. Taken in awful light, but this is the only time I ever saw such a train in the Hope Valley. If anyone knows anything more about what the train might be, please feel free to let me know.

Class 76 electrics no. 76009/11 pass over the level crossing at Thurlstone, Shore Hall just west of Penistone with the Humber - Ince & Elton tanks on 21st April 1981.

The closure of the route was only two months away at the time of the photo. There had been a down goods loop at this point which extended from Thurlstone crossing to Bullhouse Colliery signal boxes but this had already been removed.

Another glimpse of the Christmas Eve firefighters in Seattle's International District. It's MUCH more festive there today, though (Happy Year of the Horse, everyone!) :D

There's real depth to the study of Marine Biology at the University of Adelaide, as these students can attest

"Marine Biology

Students on one of the University of Adelaide's newest Bachelor degree programs needed little encouragement to get thoroughly immersed in their study environment at the start of their degree.

The Bachelor of Science (Marine Biology) started this year and within a few weeks students were undertaking the "dive experience". The first session took place in a pool and then students took to the reef at Port Noarlunga.

"Following this session, we encourage students to get their open water certificate," said Gerald Buttfield, School Manager, School of Earth and Environmental Sciences. "Students need their certificate if they want to take part in underwater research opportunities and be inducted as a scientific diver."

Although actively encouraged, diving is not a requirement. "We try to get students who want to dive into the water wherever possible but there are also plenty of shore-based areas of study," said Mr Buttfield..."

“This view of the severely damaged Apollo 13 Service Module (SM) was photographed by a Maurer 16mm motion picture camera from the Lunar Module/Command Module (LM/CM) following SM jettisoning. As seen here, an entire panel on the SM was blown away by the apparent explosion of oxygen tank number two located in Sector 4 of the SM. Two of the three fuel cells are visible just forward (above) the heavily damaged area. Three fuel cells, two oxygen tanks, and two hydrogen tanks are located in Sector 4. The damaged area is located above the S-Band high gain antenna. Nearest the camera is the Service Propulsion System (SPS) engine and nozzle. The damage to the SM caused the Apollo 13 crew to use the LM as a “lifeboat”. The LM was jettisoned just prior to Earth re-entry by the CM.”

Notice that she's not in it. That's because I stripped the bed clothes as she was rushed to the hospital tonight. The bed clothes are in the washer now. 'If' she comes home, everything will be all nicey nice.

She took a turn for the worse about two weeks ago. I've been pulling my hair out trying to do as much for her as I can. Too much is not enough. She had xrays taken today, that say she has an acute hardment of the heart.

One time that I picked her up from a fall, I thought her heart was beating really fast.

This is the reason for all the inside pictures lately. I haven't have a chance to get out.

There is a sign on the fence which says that combustible material is not to be placed within 20 feet of these tanks – why then the pallets loaded with waste cardboard?

The dog must be in all the pictures.
