A good friend of mine is having twins and of course there had to be some Pyrex at the shower! Lace Medallion and Pink Daisy. In the back you can spy the diaper cake that I put together for her, with owls of course ;)
The center of this owl is an example of iris folding. The owl is sitting on a real twig from the apple tree in my backyard.
For iris folding, I used origami paper since it is so light and I was working within such a small area (the entire card is 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" so the size of the owl is slightly smaller than that).
Each of the papers is 1/2" wide and 2-3" long. Once they are cut, then I folded them in half (so the strips are 1/4" wide).
There's a pattern that you follow when you do iris folding, and you start from the outside and work your way in. In the very center is a piece of purple paper to finish it off.
The background paper also is from origami paper and it is hand-stamped with a gold ink using a sun pattern.
This card was traded to Spinjenny as part of the ATC Beginners August Swap (it was an owl theme).

The great horned owl is one of the most well known owls of North America. It's also been called the Tiger Owl and Hoot Owl, and has the widest range of any owl in the Americas. It hunts at night and mostly eats small mammals.
I've been working on an image that features several different breeds of owls. For each one I have to create a digital sculpture, and, since the great horned owl has always been my favorite owl, I started with it. I created this image as a test of my sculpture, but I though it turned out well enough to be an artwork on it's own.
