Parked at the Lockleys' depot (I think) is OK Motor Services OVK 161M, a former Tyne & Wear PTE Leyland Atlantean with Alexander bodywork
Plenty of Tyne & Wear PTE's panoramic Atlanteans stayed in the area after sale, with OK taking 6 of the OVK-M batch in 1982, with most having far longer lives here than they did at T&W, 136 achieving 13 years here.
This offside view shows a quirky feature of panoramics, in that the upper and lower deck windows do not line up - but they do on the nearside ! See the Scarlet Band one in the Comments below for comparison ....
OK Bishop Auckland depot, 11/7/85
Scarlet Band did run a stage carriage service at this time, but I can't remember what the route was - I know from one of the following pictures that it ran from Ferryhill Station, via Coxhoe and Cornforth, but where next ?
Anyway, I managed to catch the other Tyne & Wear Atlantean on this service as it passed by the depot, but the ever-helpful 'Page & Moy' destination doesn't really help ! I guess the locals knew where it went ....
Scarlet Band depot, West Cornforth, 11/7/85
Grierson's were still a fairly small operator in late 1985, but they were just starting to expand with new and late model European coaches - and there wasn't a single withdrawn vehicle in the yard, can you believe that !
There was an awful lot of mud, though, as is clear from the state of this Tyne & Wear PTE Atlantean. After nearly 3 years here, they still hadn't invested in a long enough ladder to paint the upper deck, and I don't know if they ever got round to it, by the time of its withdrawal at the end of 1989.
Depot, 16/11/85
Painted as an allover advert for Visionhire, Tyne & Wear PTE 345 is picking up in central Newcastle. It is a Leyland Atlantean AN68/1R with Alexander AL bodywork, new in 1973 as Tyneside PTE 145.
It would later join the fleet of Scutt, Owston Ferry.

The huge variety in a fairly small fleet was the reason behind me making this epic trek, and it was proving to be worthwhile. They had bought a pair of Lothian Atlantean PDR1 Alexanders in 1983, not long before they got the OVK-M AN68s from Tyne & Wear. I only needed a shot of one of them, and JSC 863E duly obliged in this spot, and the sun went in as well for me.
But I wanted the one next to it much more ....

The bus has a body built by Alexander in 1973-08-00 and is on a Service 5 Metro Link Wallsend. The location is outside the entrance to Tynemouth Metro Station in suburban Newcastle, England, United Kingdom.

Just arrived at the depot,new and first registered July 2016.
Sorry about the quality of the photo, I had to take the shot through the security fence at the depot. The bus in front is
SN16 OVK fleet number 409. This pair are part of a block of 10 of these Enviro 400 buses due to start operating shortly.
Note: They came liveried in the new livery, but dot have the Blackpool Transport signage/decals yet. No doubt they will be doing a publicity launch in the near future.
