Die Straße durch die Echelsbacher Schlucht gehörte schon im 2.JH nach Christus zu den wichtigen Straßenverbindungen. Da der Weg aber gefährlich war, suchte man nach anderen Lösungen. Ende des 19. JH gab es dann Überlegungen die Schlucht durch eine Bogenbrücke zu überwinden. 1929 wurde die Brücke fertiggestellt. Sie war lange Zeit die weitgespannteste Bogenbrücke der Welt. Von oben hat man einen Blick auf die Ammer, die in Ihrem Oberlauf noch Linder heißt (Schloss Linderhof), dann Ammer heißt und so in den Ammersee fließt. Sie verläßt ihn als Amper... .

Chimney Rock Overview beautiful State Park in North Carolina, this shot is about 2,000 foot up at the top of the Chimney, it does climb more but it is a tough hike.

A lot of indecision before leaving home for this hike, after so many bad days and rain.

In the end, the choice was rewarded by a shy sunny day, which gave me this overview of Chiavenna valley, magnificent gateway to other alpine valleys.
